How do you like the 413? If I get the 413 it will go in a Power wagon, torque is what I am looking for.

Sure, runs really strong. The guy before me (or maybe before him) put the combinaton way out of whack, but once i get it to where it needs to be with gear, converter, heads, cam and intake, I expect it to be a real torque monster and a real hoot to drive.

There are a few things you can do with it. Mine has a steel crank and pretty sure they're LY rods, so the bottom end is as stout as the best 440 from the factory. Hughes has some pistons and rings for like $450 for a set of cast flat top pistons. They'll be 0.067 in the hole but will bump that compression way up. Assuming you're going to have it torn down and rebearing, ring and hone it, the pistons seem like a no brainer.

Also, like was posted above, get some closed chamber heads and that'll boost it up almost a point. A guy on here has some race prep'd 516's ready to go. With pistons and 75cc heads, the compression will be about 9.5 with 0.040 gaskets.

Or leave it all stock and get that supercharger kit that is for sale here and have a ton of fun in that powerwagon.

However, after all that work ahead of you, you still only have a 413 so you'll never get your money back out if you decide to go another direction.

Well, I am going to look at the 413 tomorrow morning. He said the motor and tranny for $250.

I got the 413 today, wow, this thing is huge. It will sit in my garage until my next project.

There's a post on moparts I think that deals with max torque towing combinations. I'll see if I can find it for ya. Either way, didn't Powerwagons come with 318's and 360's? That things gonna be a bull.

Well today I did some cleaning on the 413, I found a GT 413 on the motor, what does the GT mean?

Where are you located in Illinois? My brother has a 413 from a 65 Chrysler station wagon that he might sell. It is disassembled but he has all the parts. Hughes Engines cleaned and inspected the block and it checked out ok.

G means 1971, T means truck, RV, or industrial (pump, generator, dump truck, etc). Mine's an HT413 (where i got my username) and is a 1972.

So mine is a 71? Not a 69?

Ok, I am going to get a set of 906 heads this weekend. The guy is asking $60.00, I thought that is a good deal.

Yes that's a great price, if they aren't cracked, as long as the seats are in decent shape. I paid $50 for a set, had a stock valve job done, and they worked great! A little pocket blending, and port clean up goes a long way.

Did you put hard seats in?

I have been slowly taking apart my 413, I have 906 heads, I am going to get different pistons, different intake and camshaft. I took the timing cover off yesterday, I have a timing gear not a chain, I want to put a different cam in but I want to keep the timing gears. There is no problem doing this? Is there?

Only in buying a reverse rotation camshaft and maybe dist. gearing.

Now I might be wrong here, but I think you have a marine motor. If I'm correct here, that cam is a standard rotation cam, it's the CRANK that is reverse rotation. They used a 2 gear timing setup to get the crank to rotate in the opposite direction for multi-engine marine set ups.

Did you have the same gears in your motor?
