Nah, that wont work in an automobile application to my knowledge. my motor came in the car when i bought it, so it had the normal timing chain setup.

If you think about it, with a normal timing chain setup, crank and cam spin in the same direction. With this, crank and cam spin in opposite directions, so i think that has to be marine, with a normal rotation cam and a reverse rotation crank.

Doesn't the motor turn clockwise when you are looking at the front of it? So, crank turns clockwise and cam counter clockwise?

Nah, both turn in the same direction...

I just turned the crank clockwise and the cam turns counter clockwise.

Yeah thats what i mean. The pix i showed you are automotive timing sets, and the cam and crank are supposed to turn in the same direction. Your set turns them in opposite directions, and i believe its the crank that turns reverse.

So you are saying, that my motor when running turns counter clockwise?

Honestly, you might want to start another thread about this or do a search to get some answers, because all I've done is read about this, no experience for myself. So this isn't advice, it's just me thinking out loud, giving you questions to ask more than giving you answers.

Seems to me you need the crank to turn in the correct direction, and as far as I've 'read', the biggest issue you'll have is at he rear main seal. The crank has grooves at the seal to keep the oil in. Reverse cranks like I think yours is, the grooves run backwards, so instead of keeping the oil 'in' the motor, they suck the oil out. Not sure if you can have it machined or if you need to find another crank. Either way, cast cranks are almost free and oem forged are pretty cheap too.

Either someone else needs to chime in here or you need another thread and do some digging.

Thanks for the help, you know more than me because you have one.
