This is how I treat inner quarters, helps save a lot of material and protect those areas well.
I applied 2 coats of sealers, then I just dust in a light coat of base. Followed by reducing activated clear almost 1:1. Thins it out and kills the excessive gloss a bit.
Other areas potentially seen are painted properly.
Not much today- found a little time to get a couple tubes of seam sealer on the floors.
A while back I removed all the old sealer it was cracked and loose. My floors were in good shape, I wire wheeled a few spots and touched them up kinda replicating the original coloring. No need to paint the entire thing.
My goal is to make a nice car I’m not afraid of. I’ve been down the nut and bolt resto road and it makes for a car I have a hard time enjoying.
I’m almost there! Running out of things to weld. I have the 2 quarter window rear corner brackets and a little work to do on the roof seams!
This evenings progress, rear bumper supports. I tried to mimic the factory’s sloppy welds:
Had a hard time getting red oxide color epoxy from my usual big names. I’ve read good things about SPI on various forums so I tried their epoxy. Very nice so far.
Been busy with some filler work on the sail panels and some epoxy. Blocked the roof and tops of the 1/4s, polyester puttied some spots, sealed the drip rails and epoxied it again this evening. Looking good!
