Any wheels yet?
'69 Bee, nice!
Could have bought a '69 A12 rolling chassis back in the early 90's for cheap, it needed a trunk pan. I was young and poor so didn't get the car. Really no different than today just older.
I figure I'm due lol.
Look fantastic Elk .. glad you went black now right ...
Yeah, waiting on the wheels and still having an issue with the sealing of the windshield. The guy really did a nice job of sealing it up with butyl the second time - or so we thought. I waited overnight and had the ol lady spray water while I laid on my back with a flashlight. It was way better, but now is dribbling down the a-pillar somehow. He said that they used a product back in the 80's that was more fluid than butyl and would creep into the hole and seal it up. Only problem is that isn't made anymore because of being environmentally unfriendly. So he has been searching all over for a similar product and actually called this morning saying they might have found some. It is sold by the case for over $300, but they are trying to purchase just one can. He thinks he will have some by next week (fingers crossed). Oh yeah, I am also waiting for the new rear door panel from Legendary.
Sorry Hunt but I can't get past the paint. Wow does that puppy shine, you've gotta be tickled pink with the way it came out. How wide are those rubbers, looks bad with those fatties on the back. Congrats, it now looks done and ready to start earning you some tickets. Enjoy
Have you flip that coin to see who does the test drive. Must be getting close to looking like spring down your way
Maybe Propwash can give me some pointers on what to use on a black car - that's if he's not too busy sitting outside on his porch sipping a brewsky waiting for that little A-body to arrive lol.
Haven't asked this is a while . . . are we there yet ? ? ? ( SMILE ) Looking GOOD ! ! !
As far as the high maintenance paint that's sitting on it, it's a bit of work, but the payoff is ten fold. You should put at least two good coat's of wax on her right off the bat. One right after the other. That will help keep those micro swirls/scratches down. Use a good wax like Meguiar's or 3M, not the cheapies like NU Finish or some of the others. Mothers makes a good wax as well. Top it off with a good polish or glaze. I use Liquid Glass. The softest towels I've found are from Wizards, called Multi-Fiber cloth. Also when you wash, get the softest thing you can to wash it. I use a microfiber wash mit from Fleet Farm. I don't use a bucket. I get the mit nice and soaked and pour a liberal amount of Meguair's Gold Class on both sides and work it a little into the mit. No sense of continuously dipping a mit in a bucket of soapy water that get dirtier and dirtier the more you wash. Keep the mit nice and wet, add more soap if needed. If those fine swirls/scratches come creeping up on you down the road, hand rubbing #3 3M Perfect-it or Meguiar's #9 Swirl remover 2.0 will tone them back down. Obviously you's want another couple coats of wax put back on after that. Last would be, keep a cover on her when she's sitting idle for a while. As you're finding out, just pollen & dust and a little sunlight makes the car look filthy.... Happy washing amigo.
