Yeah, waiting on the wheels and still having an issue with the sealing of the windshield. The guy really did a nice job of sealing it up with butyl the second time - or so we thought. I waited overnight and had the ol lady spray water while I laid on my back with a flashlight. It was way better, but now is dribbling down the a-pillar somehow. He said that they used a product back in the 80's that was more fluid than butyl and would creep into the hole and seal it up. Only problem is that isn't made anymore because of being environmentally unfriendly. So he has been searching all over for a similar product and actually called this morning saying they might have found some. It is sold by the case for over $300, but they are trying to purchase just one can. He thinks he will have some by next week (fingers crossed). Oh yeah, I am also waiting for the new rear door panel from Legendary.

Any wheels yet?

'69 Bee, nice!
Could have bought a '69 A12 rolling chassis back in the early 90's for cheap, it needed a trunk pan. I was young and poor so didn't get the car. Really no different than today just older.

They are scheduled to be shipped from Crager in California the end of this week. Yeah, there are several cars I wish I could have afforded 30 years ago too. Always had to sell what I was currently driving to buy the next. Good times though.

Look fantastic Elk .. glad you went black now right ...

It's ok I guess, but to be honest it really doesn't float my boat - yet. That might change when I get it all put together though. This one is for my gal as it is what she has always wanted.

Now, something like this is what I am dreaming about :icon_thumright:

Finally got the shipment I have been waiting 5 months for.

I read somewhere that the new windshields are thinner making the gasket not as tight??????????????? Makes sense seeing how everything is built cheaper now days.

Just 24 hours ago I was saying this car doesn't float my boat. Well, I am going to take back that statement now. It's amazing what some nice new wheels and tires can do for how a car presents itself. I have to give the wife a lot of credit - she new exactly what she wanted and hit a home run on this one. Now everyone was probably thinking just mount them babies up and call it a day right? Well remember I have about the worst luck in the world when it comes to this car. Summit sent the wrong lug nuts and washers - go figure. The correct ones are supposed to be in the mail tomorrow, so I will wait a little longer. I really don't think this car likes me.

Sorry Hunt but I can't get past the paint. Wow does that puppy shine, you've gotta be tickled pink with the way it came out. How wide are those rubbers, looks bad with those fatties on the back. Congrats, it now looks done and ready to start earning you some tickets. Enjoy

It does have quite the shine to it, and its even dirty in these pics. I will say the one thing I don't like about the black is that absolutely every little speck of dust or flaw shows. It is so bad that you can see scratches from just wiping it with Mist & Shine with a microfiber towel. Maybe Propwash can give me some pointers on what to use on a black car - that's if he's not too busy sitting outside on his porch sipping a brewsky waiting for that little A-body to arrive lol.

Those are 15x10's with 295/50 rubber. About 12.5" wide.

Its not that it doesnt like you its just mad at you for putting it back together the way it was suppose to look like. Have you flip that coin to see who does the test drive. Must be getting close to looking like spring down your way

Haha. You can bet she will make me take it on the maiden voyage. But after the bugs are worked out, she will be in control.

I replaced a windshield about 6 yrs ago on a 69 z28 i use to own when they applied the caulking they put it on with a unit that actually heated it to make it flow better they also told me to leave the chrome trim off for a couple days to let it cure.

Hey H2E . . . The Mrs. sure knew what she liked and I have to agree - she hit it OUT OF THE PARK ! ! !

The car is incredible . . . Please tell her 2-thumbs up from "Khan"-vertible . . . LOVE IT !

Haven't asked this is a while . . . are we there yet ? ? ? ( SMILE ) Looking GOOD ! ! !

LOL! Well, like you Joel, i'm a Wisconsinite......So sipping a brewsky on the porch is not only a tradition, it's programmed from birth. I gotta say, the wheels, the paint, the top and the stripe makes that car just perfect. If I had a Charger, I would be more than happy if it looked like yours. As far as the high maintenance paint that's sitting on it, it's a bit of work, but the payoff is ten fold. You should put at least two good coat's of wax on her right off the bat. One right after the other. That will help keep those micro swirls/scratches down. Use a good wax like Meguiar's or 3M, not the cheapies like NU Finish or some of the others. Mothers makes a good wax as well. Top it off with a good polish or glaze. I use Liquid Glass. The softest towels I've found are from Wizards, called Multi-Fiber cloth. Also when you wash, get the softest thing you can to wash it. I use a microfiber wash mit from Fleet Farm. I don't use a bucket. I get the mit nice and soaked and pour a liberal amount of Meguair's Gold Class on both sides and work it a little into the mit. No sense of continuously dipping a mit in a bucket of soapy water that get dirtier and dirtier the more you wash. Keep the mit nice and wet, add more soap if needed. If those fine swirls/scratches come creeping up on you down the road, hand rubbing #3 3M Perfect-it or Meguiar's #9 Swirl remover 2.0 will tone them back down. Obviously you's want another couple coats of wax put back on after that. Last would be, keep a cover on her when she's sitting idle for a while. As you're finding out, just pollen & dust and a little sunlight makes the car look filthy.... Happy washing amigo.

Gettin' close now Larry. I'm waiting on the lug nuts, interior door panel, rear reflector bases getting color matched to the stripe, and getting that damn windshield sealed up. Awfully short list compared to 2 years ago.

Car looks Boss Elk! Looking forward to seeing it end of May first part of June.

Ay yi yi Prop...that makes me tired and thirsty just reading your beauty regimen!
Couldn't imagine having a car like Elks or yours then driving it a mile and a half on a gravel to get to a tar road.

Elk your gonna have forearms like Popeye from all the wax on wax off!

Hunt, look into Adams Polishes they have a line that is awesome and many videos on using their products. The LX crowd uses them a great deal and they have the great buckets with inserts for doing the two bucket wash method. Another great way to dry your car is with an inexpensive electric leaf blower, saves on wiping or even touching your car.
