1969 Charger R/T resurrection

Good to hear she fits. Those air cleaner post's/pics's you posted should be a sticky. Seems to be a pretty typical problem with Gen II Chargers with anything but a stock height intake.

Thanks Will, I sure did spend a bunch of time getting this to work. I ended up with 1 1/2 extra air cleaners sitting in my garage with all the trial & error. Luckily Jegs took the Spectra unit back with me only having to pay return postage even though it was opened up and installed. Live and learn I guess, I'm just glad this is in my rearview mirror. Now on to bigger and better things, like leaking windshield gaskets lol.

Good to see you got it finally Joel, i think we've all had these kind of things happen to us, Hopefully the rest will go smoother for you, it gets annoying to be closing in on the end and things start popping up but somehow i don't think it will deter you much! :)

Couple more small things checked off the list. Got the front turn signal lamps blasted and painted, new lenses screwed on, and mounted on the car along with the front bumper.

Any of you Charger guys out there know if a seal/gasket is made for the hood mounted turn signals? The grey foam gaskets that go between the lens and housing are all I can find. The assemblies don't fit perfectly to the metal and I think it is strange if nothing else is supposed to go in this area.

The front signals look like brand new Elk

I'd sure think there were supposed to be gaskets for the TS indicators. Did you look at the FSM? Another place to ask or search would be Dodgecharger.com

Wow I'm getting seriously jealous over here man, you car is looking drop-dead gorgeous!

And yeah I'm not really sure if those had a gasket or not, mine didn't come with any gaskets and they fit pretty tight.. Don't remember seeing anything in the fsm about it either :shruggy: I'll ask my friend Mike when he comes by later today

Thanks Speedy. I would really appreciate it as I can't find any info one way or the other. What seems odd is that I bought the complete turn signal kit and would think everything should be included. There wasn't anything that would fit in the paint seal gasket kit either.

what was the question, im still looking at all the things in the reflection of that beauty....WOW!!!!!!!!!!

I think I can see . . .

red ladder with a yellow top

Haha, when I first looked at it I didn't even think to try and pick out everything you could see in it but it's crystal clear "WOW" that is just awsome Hunt.

I'm sure I have mentioned it before, but if someone is going to have a problem with something, it will be me. Started putting the interior door panels in the car a couple of days ago. Finished up the passenger side this afternoon and moved over to the rear drivers side. Got the plugs cut out and set it in place to check the fitment. Something didn't seem quite right so I looked over my shoulder and noticed that the vinyl on this piece is upside down :angryfire:. Can you believe this? See what I mean about this car being possessed? I've had these Legendary panels for a year now. I pulled each one out individually and checked for flaws when I got them, but who would have ever thought to check the pattern orientation. Just got off the phone with Dantes and sent him some pics. As all of you know, he has sold a pile of these things and said this is the first time something like this has happened. Of course this holds up everything else in the interior. Hopefully it can get straightened out quickly.
The rear rump stripe is supposed to be going on tomorrow, and I got a call from Summit saying my wheels are scheduled to ship the end of next week. The ol punch list is getting short.

That's insanity, how could that even happen?

If it makes you feel any better I'm following right behind in **** luck. My brother covered my car in dust from all the work he was doing on his car so I locked it in the booth and gave it a bath today...............................MY FREAKIN WINDSHEILD SEAL LEAKS TOO! What the hell is next........let me guess an upside down panel haha. Mine is leaking between the glass and the gasket, not between the gasket and window channel so I imagine a little butyl will fix it but still "why couldn't it just seal"? Hope your luck turns quick but for all you got left there shouldn't be to many more surprises.........knock on wood. Good luck:banghead:

I feel a little better now that I know I am not the only one having problems. I forgot to mention in the upside down door panel post that the windshield guy stopped over today also. We found a leak on the bottom drivers corner. He wanted to just squirt a little more butyl in that area. I told him as long as he was here I would prefer pulling the bottom trim off and running a solid bead along the bottom and up both corners. No problem he says. Until he couldn't get the last clip released on the lower right side. After about 15 minutes of poking, prying, adjusting the bends in his molding tool, it came off with some force. This in turn put 2 scratches in my freshly buffed cowl. I got my fingers crossed they will buff out. At this point I just have to sit back and laugh at everything that happens. What else can a guy do - right? I did make up my mind I am going to get absolutely everything completed on the car, take a bunch of pictures, and buy some insurance before I turn the key for the first time. For some reason I have visions of the thing blowing up and burning itself and everything else in the garage to a crisp.

Hey H2E . . . right up there with you and 747Mopar . . . I'd have to say that I'm a close third . . . I'm still in the tearing apart process and I've run into a number of things already . . . I think we even joked about it a couple times on one of our threads ( who's winning ) . . . but my luck has never been all that good. I just keep pushing on and hope that one day I'll get my stuff done regardless of how many wrenches are thrown into the works during the process.

I think it's a character building exercise -

the more challenges that come your way, the better you are at finding solutions down the road

and giving up is not an option ! !

Suggestion H2E - the first time you start up the car - Do it OUTSIDE and not in the garage ! ( SMILE )

I was thinking the same thing myself :icon_thumleft:. I've gotta come up with a good name for this Christine/psycho/possessed black thing I refer to as a car.

Man o man.......did you piss of god or something? Wow. That project is like the uphill battle of Iwo Jima. Car's like a big black cat. Hope it get's better for you Joel. That's pretty bad when legendary is messing up. Good luck...don't go breaking any mirrors or walking under any ladders while you're at it.

Not sure what I did exactly Will, but this thing seems to fight tooth and nail every step of the way. Maybe she got pi$$ed when I decided to replace her F3 coat with black - who knows.

Maybe the car was a Chevy in another life.:mad_6:
