1969 Charger R/T resurrection

It's been 2 years since the back seat has been in the car, its good to have it back.

I found a tube of the windshield sealer we have been looking for at of all places the local Car Quest. Now I just have to wait till my windshield guy can get back over here to give it a try.

Great News there H2E . . . and the punch list is getting even shorter . . . bet it looks a little odd to be seeing a back seat in the car now ? ? ?

Hope the final punch list items go a whole lot smoother than some of the other items I've watched you work on . . . Great Job H2E . . . LOVE IT ! ! !

Another small thing checked off the list. Took the body shop several experimentation attempts, but they got the bezels perfectly matched to the stripe.

I have to meet the windshield guy this afternoon for another shot at sealing that thing up - I'm accepting well wishes, prayers, and finger crossing from all of you for this lol. Hopefully the third time is the charm.

Since I haven't been able to do anything on the car, I've spent my free time building a much needed work bench. Probably a little overkill for what I need, but it should easily outlast me. Should finish up the painting this weekend. I have ordered a 7 gauge steel top with 90* flanges bent on all 4 ends.

Holy Workbench! Man...you should call that thing "The Sherman." Good work. I can imagine that bench will work well for whatever you throw at it. Best of luck with the Charger. All its fighting and kicking, I hope its finally broke like a good steed should. Stripe looks top notch.

Super nice workbench, i like the c channel and tubing. Nice welding. Your bench is full of good construction thoughts and no corners cut on this project. Oh I'm a workbench guy myself.
.

Now that's a bench and I like the expanded metal bottom too, I did the benches at work like that so the dirt will fall threw. Very nice, side markers look really good.

I'll bet H2E is going to wet sand and buff that bad boy to a HIGH GLOSS like his car too ! ! ! ( GRIN ) . . .

Just one question for you H2E . . . your other post said "Roll Around Cart Options" . . . don't think yours is going to "roll" very well ? ? ? ( smile )

OH - fingers crossed for you on the windshield sealing too ! !

So...am I gonna see it the end of May?

Not positive on that yet. We sealed the windshield again today, but this time using the 3M product. I am going to let it sit until Saturday before testing it. If it does leak, we will be pulling the glass out and starting over. Once this little nightmare is behind me, I can get the front seats in and try to get it started and check for fluid leaks. Then get an alignment, and should be ready for some road testing.

That stripe looks excellent. This is just an idea, so take it as that. If I had a bench like that, I would put emblems on around the edges. but that's just me.

You are right about that Khan. I went from building a small cart to a non movable "Sherman" (as Prop calls it). Not exactly sure how that happened lol.

You mean like Mopar decorations or something to prevent people from getting jabbed on the corners?

I think roadrunnerman was thinking more as dress up but I like your idea ! 1 thought I had would be to get some tin and make a square the width of your chanel iron form it around the corners basicly skin the frame then you could mount a few badges to that and also be able to make less sharpe corners !! jmho !

Well the #@$^*&^%^&* windshield still leaks. I am getting so frustrated with this that I told the wife it is going out by the road with a for sale sign in it. 69 Charger, no rust, new tires. Make offer. As you can imagine, this did not go over well.
The glass guy has also had enough of this car, but is coming back mid next week to pull it out and start over. If any of you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. I started another thread just for this problem hoping that we have a windshield expert on this board that can give some input.

Where did you get the glass? AMD? I was talking to a guy at Mopars in the Park last year that had a Super Bee, he had troubles with an AMD windshield sealing. He did some measuring and found that the OE glass was thicker than the AMD. As I recall he ended up finding another glass.

Good luck!

I feel for you on the leaky windshield. Gotta be frustrating to say the least. The only answer I have is to try and find the guy that installed the windshield in the car I am working on. It took me a couple hours to remove the old one. With all the Butyl that was in it, there was no way it could have leaked. The windshield was pretty nice until I tried to remove it. The rubber gasket was good too until I destroyed it trying to get it out. I have not heard there was a inherent problem with them leaking but................

I was wondering the same thing? If the glass might be the culprit

Yes it is an AMD glass. I did see somewhere else a guy claimed they were thinner than originals, but they were able to get it to seal. I bought the glass from this same guy doing this install for my last 2 cars, and he was able to get them to seal. Maybe I should just say screw it and buy another windshield - this time from him?
