1969 Dodge Coronet 500

This is a great forum to be on for beginners like me. I have leaned on Propwash through the PM's as well and he is a great guy willing to pass along some serious knowledge. I have a busy week at work ahead of me, but it gives me time to think through what I am doing on the car. The plan is to tidy up my mistakes on the LH side and then fix the rust on RH wheel well. Then I am going to get to cleaning up the frame rails and get some Rust Bullet on them before I start fitting up the trunk pan. Thanks for all the support guys. Wish you all were here in Texas so I could do up a big ole brisket and have some beers with you.

Anything I can do to help Craig, I'm more than willing. Like you mentioned lotta great guys here with tons of knowledge that are apt to help the newer guys along. Great folks with a TON of pic's, vid's, tips and know how like NorthernDave, DetMatt, SGT, Donny, Charger360, Blackblazer, Poly....ect..ect..ect. Just too many to list. That's what makes this site so great! I've learned a heck of a whole lot since I signed up, no doubt about that.

Ooooooohhhh! Texas BBQ..Man O' Man.....good stuff!!

Keep up the good work Craig!

Update

It's been a long time since I had an update on this project, but a few important work projects took up all my time over the last several months. Now that work is caught up, I finally had some time to get back to working on the Coronet. I found a local shop that specializes in restoration work and they let me bring my car to their shop. I get to do all the grunt and prep work, and they handle the more complicated body work that I am not ready to try just yet. The Q-Panel Skins arrived yesterday and hopefully we can start getting them mocked up next week. Here are some pics.

Nice looking project. You are doing a great job. Are you going back to sunfire yellow? I think that is a cool color on these cars. Don't know about the green interior with yellow though.

someone has been busy ,coming along very good keep it up :headbang:

Good deal on the shop guys letting you do work in their shop. Nice to have someone right there if you got any ??. Car is looking good.

I need to do the same trunk repairs to my car, full trunk + valance, but I also have to 2 quarters. Its a '69 R/T. Nice looking car and work man! keep it up!

Worked Fri and Sat on the car at the shop. Mostly grunt work at this point. The shop guys are real cool and don't mind me doing this kind of work. The body stuff I dont have the know-how to do, they handle at this point. This is the link to the shop I have the Coronet at - http://bigdamscooters.com/. Also want to thank Jeff from 521 Restorations for the FBBO discount on all the body parts I have ordered !

On top of this project car, grad school, crazy work schedule, and getting my CCIE knocked out, me and the better half will be welcoming a new member to the family this April. How fitting my wife got him his first outfit already.

Congrats on the new addition. Looks like the wife is already getting him/her dressed for success.

Ill second the congrats! Love the shirt..

Progress update - I have been doing a ton of wire wheel cleaning in the jams and other areas of the car. The quarters are on, and the we found a bunch of rust in the back window area. This will get fixed in the next week or so. I have a new found appreciation for all the prep work that goes into these cars after spending so many hours just cleaning out the rust.
