1969 GTX....The T stands for tetanus

I got my A pillar mouldings installed. Driver side is missing a tab and I had to plastic weld the passenger side. Not bad shape and look good. New pieces are $177! so maybe in the future I will get new ones.

I also cleaned up the rear view mirror and installed it as well as the sun visors. The visors were in excellent shape except the stitching was pulled out. I got out my needle and thread and sewed them back up and put them in.

And a seamstress too! After you install my windshield I have some clothes you can sew up!

I hate taking photos of the interior ceiling, in real life it looks great but under flash photography it make it look washed out and amplified EVERY flaw no matter how small and insignificant!

Received the carpet and got it installled. It is a pain in the butt with the console brackets but I think it turned out fine. Sill mouldings and kick panels are in good shape. Rear seats seem recovered but look good with the Plymouth emblem. I did have to weld the drivers ode attachment loop as the spot welds were busted. I should have the console in tomorrow.

For the front, I will need new cards as the board is warped and rotted. And I cannot find the driver side card anywhere and cannot find the stainless divider strip either. It is possible it was missing when I got the car as I didn't take a really good look. If anyone has a spare stainless driver side trim strip (holds the top of the door card and separates it from the black upper section) I would be interested. Thanks!

you already got the hang of interior work, hows the vinyl on the warped and rotted cards? get some masonite, trace it out, jig saw it, peel off the vinyl, put 1/8 in foam from like jo ann fabrics under it spray glue it all down. just like your wood grain trick. as for the stainless strip, ive seen people mimic this with stick on chrome striping. comes in a roll like weatherstripping for like a screen door on your house. peel off the back and stick it on, maybe brush on contact glue for added strength itd be waaaay cheaper then 300+ for new door cards and something else you can be majorly proud of. if your vinyl is junk, buy black vinyl too, and to simulate those seams, fold it under and use the contact glue no need to learn how to sew.

Problem is I only have one front door panel, they sell in pairs so I could only rebuild one. I did this on my 62 as no new ones are made. Stretched the old center vinyl and used new rose beige upper and lower vinyl.

Got the old seat belts in. FYI, put the rear belts in before the seat back....which I didn't do. For the front I have my eye on a 3 point retracting belt with stock looking hardware. I need to get my seats in do I can get measurements for what I need. Mine has original hardware for 3 point but the uppers are missing.

I also installed the gas pedal. I have seen them both in the mat and in front. Mine landed in front. Got it where I wanted and taped the footprint so I could see what to cut.

I finally had enough of the backordered weatherstripping so I cancelled my order for the kit and ordered the pieces seperate on ebay. Looks like it will save me a little bit of money as well. I am really itching to get the windows in and get them out of the guest room. I ordered the Metro door, drip rail and trunk weatherstripping. Made in USA and the price was good. The window felt is Top Cat and also made in the USA.

Man your zipping right a long.

My goal was to have it on the road in May, one year after buying it. It will be close. Money will be the deciding factor. Still need the top end of the motor, headers, full exhaust and i have yet to start gathering parts for the transmission rebuild nor have I looked into torque converters. And plenty of small things to order and fit for the motor / trans.

Im more and more amazed at how quickly youre moving. What do you do for work? Retired or independently wealthy without a 9 to5? (More like 7 to 5 for me) Haha. Id love to put that time into my gtx but i get home from work and play with the kids till their bed time. Then i just crash. So the only time to do anything is weekends, when everything else gets done. Im lucky if i get a half day to tinker on weekends. I keep wishing i get some inheritance from some unknown distant relative so i can quit and my 9-5 would be tinkering..

I'm a government employee lmao! I work 10 hour days but I am single and get 2 days off a week. Definitely not retired or wealthy that's for sure.

I am on track to have mine on the road 1 year after starting and I did not have anywhere near the metal work you did. Now I feel lazy......

Does that mean you are going to do your own windshield? Lol

Thanks. I'm a Border Patrol Agent and things are actually looking better with our new boss. It is a fun job and I enjoy doing it.

Oh hell ya. In that case Thanks 100 times over. Thats not pushing pencils thats on par with the military. It a very dangerous job and we are certainly all greatful for it. Ya. The new boss is going to keep you busy. Not sure his wall will work in a pratical sense, some of that territory is impossible to walk let alone get equipment in there. But its the though that counts.

Well now that I know, hell no. I will get the Sonoita station to transfer you over here for a few weeks. I have my contacts :)

Awesome. I need a detail out there so I can get that nice per diem to fund my Mopar addiction.
