1969 GTX....The T stands for tetanus

I went with mechanical gauges, being old school I don't trust sending units. But Autometer is a quality guage. Looks good.

As i was removing the mechanical gauges I noticed some oil leakage from the oil pressure gauge so I suppose one advantage of electric is no fluids in the passenger compartment.

I just ordered a Glasstek fiberglass 6 pack bolt on hood for $635 shipped! EBay has 15% off today using code PRIMOSALE so i pulled the trigger. It's being sold through Tamaraz.

Update: Just got a call. The hood is finished and will be shipped out today so I plan to have it Monday. It's going freight so it's coming on a semi truck. I already have single stage urethane black with flattening agent I plan to paint it with. If it isn't too hot outside. Really looking forward to fitting the hood up and seeing how it looks.

Is it hinged? I got the light weight springs for mine, I'd had enough of the lift off hood on my old race car. I plan on using hood pins and the safety release on mine, for some extra security at high speeds.
I also ordered the dead rat flat black from eastwoods. I had it painted with flattener but it looked more like a chalkboard than the black I wanted. I haven't sprayed it yet as I need to get more done for fit up.
I'll be waiting for pictures!

It is made to be used with hinges so that is how I'm going to mount it. I'll also drill for front hood pins. I haven't sprayed any of this paint yet so I'm not sure how matte it will get. The flattening agent is in a seperate pint so I can mix as much or as little as I need. They are both U-Tech by AkzoNobel which I have used before and is easy to shoot. I figure I can test it on the bottom of the hood.

Oh, and it's suppose to be 117 degrees today.

Shouldn't have to let it flash! It may dry before it hits the hood. I have put paint in a fridge or oven before to help curing.

Next week the highs will be in the 104's and lows around 85 with 15% humidity so I should be able to shoot it in the evening.

Does your hood have provisions to mount the factory hood release hardware? I never thought to ask when I ordered mine but I was thinking there would be mounting bosses in the hood because it is meant to be mounted like a steel hood.

I don't remember, I'll look. Fiberglass is so easy to work with, if not, it should be a easy fix.

Got to worrying about my hood so I called and it seems the transport company never bothered to call about setting up a delivery time. It's been sitting in Phoenix since the 29th. Scheduled for delivery tomorrow morning. Kind of makes you wonder how some places stay in business.

Hoods here. Looks very nice quality wise. I will need to open up the scoop intakes and the underside of the hood to make it functional. It looks like a standard flat hood framework with the scoop glassed on. It comes ready for hood hinges and front hood latch hardware.

Bottom side is opened up to fit my air cleaner. I used a cutoff wheel in my grinder, hole saw bit and a jig saw. The air cleaner and engine is off set to the pass side which is why the hole is off center. I'll do the scoop openings tomorrow as it is quite hot outside.
