1969 GTX....The T stands for tetanus

FINALLY!!! Door panels arrived after almost 5-1/2 months. These are PUI door panels. I had to remove the cutouts before installing and most of the holes are not punched very well so it took some surgery with a razor knife. They seem to be made decently.

Thanks. Punching out the holes is a pain because most are covered in vinyl and are not cut through all the way. The rear panels were the same way. For the price I would figure they could at least pop them all out. I had to order more clips for the driver side so that has yet to be put in.

Nice, fabulous, beautiful, stunning, gorgeous, and fantastic.

I have been working on fitting mine and I am having the same problems. Some of my clip holes are off a little also.

The clip holes for mine look pretty close and the pass side snapped onto the door without issue. There is some wiggle room for the clips.

I found that pushing in on the face helped release the knock-outs and use a razor blade to cut the tabs. There are quite a few perferated holes that don't get cut out as well.

And because I'm bored, I ordered a gauge cluster (water / oil ) from Summit. All the connections were very easy, my aluminum water pump had a spare npt port and the rear oil gallery had a second port across from the sending unit. Fired the engine up after install checked the lights and one burned out immediately (thanks China!). And because the bulbs are not replaceable (hard wired) I soldered up a small dash bulb and reinstalled. Oil pressure at idle is around 45psi and the temp gauge looks to be accurate and I like how it continues to read temp after the ignition is turned off.

Nice, and now you can see your shifter at night.

Mmmmm... I don't recall OEM stuff breaking on the first day :)

How about this....the temp gauge stopped working last night! So it lasted one trip, 12 miles and then **** the bed. Rediculous. Either the sensor or gauge but the sensor is attached to the gauge.

I ordered Autometer gauges last night and will send this pile of garbage back in the mail when I swap them out. Seems more the norm to get crap parts than to get something working out of the box.

I chuckle when I read “I want to upgrade my [fill in the blank]” threads. If it is not OEM it is more than likely a downgrade!

I finally started working on installing the new Autometer gauges. The Summit temp gauge worked sporadically. The new Autometer gauges are electrical so I have to run wires to the new sensors. They also have green light covers so they will fit in with the dash lights.

I ran out of heat shrink so I will finish getting the wiring finished on the gauges tomorrow then I can mount them and connect the wiring to the vehicle. I still need to drain some coolant to install the new temp sending unit.

I went with mechanical gauges, being old school I don't trust sending units. But Autometer is a quality guage. Looks good.

And installed. Here are a few pics showing the cluster wiring and sensors. All connections soldered and shrink tubed. They both seem to be working correctly.
