1969 Road Runner....another one!

Looks like those guys are moving along real good on your car.

Looking good. New quarters sure make it look like a car again.

No update on the car...

Got a huge opportunity to buy 60 acres....so that's been taking up most of my time and more importantly all my money. Still in contract, so I haven't closed yet.

In other news...grandpa's 1961 Alfa Romeo is finally wearing some paint. Spent 4 years on body work. Never, EVER, pay for anything in full up front.

Good luck closing the deal on the land .. you gonna build the dream house / garage(s) there? Also grandpa's alfa is looking good in FE5 LOL!

60 acres is a good chunk of land. How much of it is wooded? Sweet looking alfa.

where's the land ?? is any dwelling on the property already ?? how much per/acre for land out there ??

Hey, thanks for the comments guys. Sorry it took so long to reply....kids are keeping me swamped. I'm currently getting quotes for body and paint on the RR. I can't really seem to find anyone that wants to commit to the project. Getting "well, I'm not looking for that much work...but I'll do it for $28k". Ok bro...all you had to say was you're not interested. You didn't really need to quote yourself out of the job. Kinda frustrating that I can't find anyone willing to take the car for a normal price.

At any rate. The property only has 300 yards road frontage. There are currently no dwellings on the property....and at this point I'm not sure there ever will be. Although, we are exploring options. The problem is that all 60 acres are river bottoms and are in a flood zone. We're looking at stilts for a structure....or block structure. All we really need is a wood burning stove, a couple of bunkbeds, couch and a cheap TV. But, it has roughly 15 acres of woods. 20 acres of swamp and the rest is field\pasture\overgrowth etc. But, my passion is waterfowl hunting. It's located on the only central Ohio flyway. I'll have 3/4 mile river frontage. I've seen huge numbers of ducks, turkey, HUGE swamp bucks.....and the fishing should be ok. Catfish really aren't my thing....but the beer drinking and camping will be fun. I grew up on 50 acres....and had a blast as a kid. I kinda want the same thing for my kids. It may sound cheezy (not sure that's even a word anymore...I may be showing my age) but I envision my kids tromping around there, having their first beer there, camping out with their friends as teenagers etc. As far as the price.....let's just say it was an offer I couldn't refuse. I'll come clean after closing.

Wow....been a long time. Too long! Closed on the property in January. As promised, I will spill the beans. It's 60 acres of hardwood river bottoms, oaks, cottonwoods etc.....all but 3 acres is in a flood plain. Around 15 acres of marsh ground. Can't do anything with the property....can't plant it or build on it. So, it was cheap....$425/acre. Just a big play ground for hunting and fishing.....might even drink a beer or two on the banks of the river.

And so....the car finally went to the body shop about a month ago. He's saying 3-5 months on that. Looking at maybe the middle of the summer before I get it back. I've seen his work....a friend had a 65 Mustang done. It's not a $20k paint job...but it's not a $3k paint job either. Looking somewhere between the 2. Although, this car was never meant to be trailored. So, I think I'll be happy.

Engine was complete last summer (I'll try to attach some pics). Transmission is currently being rebuilt...should have that back in a week or so. Busted a bearing and 3rd gear and synchro rings were shot. Glad I was smart enough to look at it, vs just a cosmetic clean up.

I'll head to the shop to get suspension parts next week. That's where you guys come in. I'll need help on that. I'll be checking back in often with a million questions....hope I don't get too annoying.

Thanks for all the support

Congrats on the property, finding someone to take on the RR and most importantly the little cutie. Sounds like fun for the kids in the future, fishing, hunting, camping etc. Enjoy

Keep thrashing... it will get done!!!!
You should see what I've been dragging home.....

Man Capt working on my own 69 RR project and I am in Powell! Lots of similarity in your story with mine. I guess I need to post where I am in the process. Lookin forward to seeing yours done. Hope to have mine in paint by Sept.

That piece of land sounds prettey sweet and touching a river for $425/acre...that's pretty sweet.

Good luck on the project!

Went out to the shop this morning to grab suspension parts. Blocking has begun.

Going to be needing help with restoring the suspension soon. I want to get a better feel for it before I start asking questions.

Thanks!

Congrats on the property and the alpha looks awesome. Looking forward to updates on the RR

Transmission shop called yesterday...apparently the synchro rings are wrong. Called Jamie Passon and explained the situation. He stated that it must have been rebuilt at some point after 1970 1/2. The synchro rings that are currently in there are wrong for the year. So, the synchro assembly was changed at some point. Small delay as I send these back to him and wait for the correct ones to arrive. Jamie said it was a common issue.

Are those 2 springs broke? Or were they cut like that on purpose?

MP XHD springs... notice the one on the bottom looks like yours

In fact I believe your is the exact same...7 Leaf, someone upgraded?

I was an idiot and sent my old floor pan to the salvage yard. Does anyone know specifically where the parking brake cable bracket gets mounted? A picture and diagram would be great. I know it's drivers side toward the rear of the floor pan...but I have no idea where to weld it in.
