1969 Road Runner facelift

Come on up! (bring your equipment, the rustbelt has work for you. )

just finished the 29th page of this since last night(and still managed to cut the grass and take the wife and daughter out to supper in my runner) and you're doing fantastic work! wanna hang another set of 1/4 skins?;)
I really like your method of the top seam. I think that's how mine will get done.

If I had to do it over again, I'd do it the same (top seam)

It worked really well.

Nice clean look from inside the trunk too.

Goodness, I forgot I had a roadrunner out in the shop. I spotted it out there the other day...

Dammit I guess I better get back after it.

well I sat down this morning at the computer and placed orders to classic industries, herbs and I have a message out to Jeff with 521 for what should be the finishing items for the tin chicken.

I have a message out to Jeff with 521 for what should be the finishing items for the tin chicken.

I keep saying that then I peel off the next piece of sheetmetal and find another one that's bad and I'm back on the phone with Jeff again.

New white vinyl top and new black carpet smell terrific....

mmmmm

New-ness.

:)

Well, we had a rainy day yesterday so I did some skim coat and sanding with the 2K glazing filler. I'm done with the roof including the sail panels, I believe I am done with the doors, quarters, rockers etc too.

I have to do my fenders yet (haven't even started on them)But I want to jam the car before hanging the fenders. Then I plan on shooting the roof white (single stage urethane), then mask the roof and shoot the car bronze with the hood and trunk lid off the car.

I may put the trunk lid on the car when I shoot color though, not absolutely certain on that yet. But I do believe I will shoot the hood off the car.

I forgot to touch on the reason for shooting the roof white.

My car originally had a white vinyl top and I'm putting one back on.

Recently I talked with a friend that has a dark green 68 GTX with a white Vinyl top. He got the boar grain white top from legendary like I did. they painted his entire car the dark green metallic, including the roof. Then they stretched the white vinyl on the roof.

As strange as it sounds, you can see green through that white on his vinyl top.

It's one of those things that he has to point out to you, but it's there.

He said if he had it to do over again he'd paint the top white first.

So that's what I'm going to do.

You know Dave...we're gonna keep bothering you till we see some flippin progress! I'd be happy seeing the installation of some door lock knobs or something..

You're so close to paint, you gotta love having the crowd on the edge of their seat waiting.

Don't make me pull out HAL on you Dave.
