1969 Roadrunner rust ratification

you mention spot welder, most people use a regular welder because there is so many welds, just use it for all the welding, a spot welder can only get into certain areas, mig welder can go to any spot on the car. great job so far, fellow georgian.i will be watching.fbbo is a great place for help and info.

I have been wanting a spot welder, I have always plugged and finished, just thought about bringing in a new tool to see if it would speed up the process. But after seeing how the floor attaches it would only reach the last edge and the wheel wells. Don't plan on rushing just talking out loud.

Got the Trunk Pan installed. Went ahead and bit the bullet and ordered Full qtrs, One trunk gutter, both tail light sections, hood and both fenders.

a good spot welder costs big money
that is what held me back
think what did they use when they built the car
most of them do not get enough penetration in the weld.
good luck with the money pit.

Thanks for the spot welder feedback. I decided to stick with what I have.
That being said I have decided to not even try to fix the package tray and added more metal to the order. Had to get another inner patch on the wheel wells. There actually was no holes but after I hit it with the blaster is had some nasty pitting so away it goes.

Mine landed perfect on the left and right but in the middle it is about 1/8th.

Test fitting and getting ready for quarters to arrive.Have dealt with plenty of metal providers and makes, this AMD metal is some of the best fitting metal I have ever touched. So far only have had to sharpen some folds here and there.

Getting right at it and moving along quickly! Nice. Looks like you said earlier, you're certainly not afraid of replacing steel!
Thank you and No sir. I have actually been very busy or it would have more done.
Of course I would have rather found a rust free car but considering what is available and pricing, I figure I can be at about the same point and know every part that has been replaced. I did look at a 70 this week that may come home that could be road worthy much faster than this one, just have to juggle where to store the one that sits. Once the Quarters arrive for this one it should move quickly. Also will be nice to have a front clip on it so it looks like a car.

An early poster was right it will need drivers frame rail replaced or repaired, Hoping to get a west coast one and replace.

So you had to buy a complete front clip?
It looks like the glass was all there.
How about the interior? Was it all there.
I've done several A bodies. You can get reproduction covers from Legendary Interiors and put it on yourself.
I'm on the west side of ATL and will get around to my RR, someday soon maybe.
I just bought a Horror Fright tig. I'm hoping to save as much original metal as possible.
Weld up the pin holes, etc.

Yeah although it had two fenders next to it they were ruined. I originally was going to keep the patina look but after going through it I decided it could be a long term project. I was able to rip the pass quarter off after work and only need to deal with some fender well rust at the lip. Everything else looks good.

And no it had no seats, just a shell.

Big project but looks like your getting it done! Carry on!
