1969 Roadrunner rust ratification

Challengers I was talking to him about were inside.

The one next to it does have a drive train as well and AC but is in bad shape. The 70 Had an engine and tranny.

Only had to graft a small piece. Since it was small I used some of the old qtr so it is still original metal,,,sorta.

Does anyone mind sharing measurements for the trunk opening at the end of the qtrs? Looking for edge to edge at the red line. My Trunk gap splits nicely just want to make sure the width is right. Can't imagine it is much off considering the tail panel is still in place.

Waiting on the rear extensions but Pass side is ready to nail down. Had to fix a section of the drivers wheel well I did not expect but it was pitted and soft so it needed to go. Had to extend the lip behind the qtr same as the other side. Seems like all the little fixes take three times as long as expected.

More tweaking and very happy with where the pass side rests. I am driving to AMD in the morning to grab what I hope is the last of the metal for the back end.
Even the corner patch piece sites perfect on the qtr/dutchman panel.
Also played with the folds on the qtr and now the dutchman panel pretty much lines up. Bought new rear window trim and it lines up, so I will throw the windshield back in before welding in just to be sure.

I never ever see B Bodies on the road around here, looked at another 70 today that is less than 5 miles from the house. This one may be coming home, he is a little high but is willing to negotiate a little.

Ya, tucked away rotting and wanting a fortune for them or "I'm going to fix it someday"

For sure that is the norm. I have stopped and talked to 3 different Superbee owners in the past year with the same answer.

This one is priced at "I saw what they sell on the internet" but there may be some hope. I spoke to his son in law and no one had come to look at it, I told them they were priced about twice what any sane person would pay. Will know in a couple days, aside from the qtrs, pretty solid, frame rails looked great. All there except the carb.

After a second day of negotiating it will be coming home.
It is an original owner car. He is pretty proud of it but we did come to an agreeable price. Has original everything, interior is trashed and the lower qtrs are starting to go but we will see how far I have to go with it.

This will put the 69 on the back burner as the 70 is closer to road ready. Will juggle both.

Juggling both cars now. Went back up to AMD and grabbed some metal I had plan on saving. Now it will get drivers side trunk rail. Passenger side just went through final fit and it lined up exactly where it had been before the trunk extensions were in place. I will hopefully get the qtrs locked down in the next couple of weeks. The good thing about having another close by is I am able to compare rear window measurements as well as putting the old glass back in and everything matches the 70.
I will be buying a full floor for the 70 and since it's drivers side floor is very nice I may be able to use it on this car. The 69 has a few pin holes under the gas pedal area.

And in keeping with spotting B Body Mopars, talked to the owner of this Wednesday.

Hoping this is the last small behind the scene repair. This brace was pretty much shot so I cut it out, also ran a bead on the edge of the outer sheet metal so it is there for a while.
Drivers quarter is fighting me a little on giving me a good door gap, shocking how much time chews away as you fit remove fit remove over and over.

What is becoming I am sure the longest qtr panel install ever, I will finally be melting metal in the morning. Had to weld up the trunk extensions and the tail light sections. After fitting this thing at least 70 times I think it is ready. The lower flange is wanting to fight back and push the turn for the rocker out where it meets the actual rocker. I will weld the door jamb rocker then pull it back to the flange. Trunk gap seems good. the dutchman panel still is ill fitting but the qtr will go on. THis has me thinking hard about path on the 70. Full qtrs are the least welds but geez the fit time is unreal, maybe it is just me.

I went with patch panels becauuse they came with the car so were essentially no extra cost. Full quarters would have been nice but I don't trust new panels to be as crisp. My fit up of the skins was easy, kept the original door jamb and tail light metal. Biggest pain was the full length weld and the fact you cannot get behind it to planish the welds so there was some dip in the weld.

Keep working it, I'm sure you will get it nice reveals and gaps.

No it isn't o,ly you lol it is indeed unreal! I just finished the adjustment with mine... go through a lot of fit time too. Finally got the qtrs in place and I'm glad I now have to weld everything together.
Keep up coming along nicely. :)

Thanks. I have learned a bit so maybe the drivers goes better. It is freezing so I am sneaking out when I can, us southerners can't handle temps below 45.
