1970 Coronet R/T Project (Dasfusca's Car)

Thanks for posting that. I'm right behind you on doing my quarters and Mopar Muscle's info will help for sure.

Here are some updates on my project.
I have a new welder.

AND I HAVE A NEW MOTOR.

I am still going to eventually fix the original numbers matching motor. This new one was for someone else's project and they went in a different direction. It's Fresh out of a PennDel performance and machine shop. It is a 1976 block, 30 over bore, cast crank, hardened seats, bronze valve guides, 23204 melling cam and it came with a brand new 80508 750 Holley carb and an electronic ignition and distributor that looks like a stock mopar.

Nice welder and I see you wasted no time putting it to work. motor looks great. Put it in your car when you get ready, that will give you something to "romp" around with till you get the other motor done.

I started on the other inner wheel well. this side is not nearly as bad as the other. I am cutting up an amd inner well just for its bottom. kind of a waste.

I bought these cool bumperetts. I did not know they had a big metal support behind them. Now I am looking for the rear ones.

I am also ordering a new shop clock because after 30 or so years of use my old electric one burned up. My new one is a remake of the old Aztec neon clock. An orginal aztec neon hung in my Grandfathers shop and I always wanted one. I have to make the black ring. the picture is the mock-up from the manufacturer. Originals are like $1500 and are really old. I am concerned with possible fire as well as price so I went with a brand new clock with a ten year warranty. I sold of my old welder and some parts to finance it. My wife calls it Enron economics.

Great news!!! Today I actually got the last two seized pistons out of my block. I soaked these things for over a month. They eventually tapped right out. It is the original block, but it’s going to be put together slowly while I drive around on my rebuilt 440 for a while. Maybe years....Who knows.

I am not positive, but this center bar looks like a 68-69 Charger piece that someone welded on a couple of brackets to. Maybe one of the Coronet guys could chime in to be certain.

It has been a while........ I picked up right where I left off. Not too much to show for almost a year.

The motor is almost ready to go in.
I painted the dash

I was thinking about painting the engine compartment

I finally got around to welding in the inner wheel wells

The inside structural corners are almost ready to weld in. These parts tie a lot of the rear panels to the structural roof framing and since mine were nonexistent, I am glad AMD reproduces them.

This is the original numbers matching 440 hp engine for this car. I had it baked clean and magnafluxed. The machine shop said it was a good block and rebuildable. I am going to leave it "mothballed" packed in grease and wd40 for a while and I will use the replacement 440 with all the 1970 parts on it that sits on the engine stand in the car.

I Picked up my rebuilt 727 transmission. After I paint it with some aluminum paint it will be ready to put back in.

My rebuilt motor is still waiting safely under a protective plastic barrier.

I am continuing to work on the body. This is the first fit for the outer wheel section.
