Hey guys, I'm new here. I thought I had been registered before but I guess not. I've had a number of 70-73 challengers, 34 coupe and a 65 fury in the past..... I guess that's my intro...

Anyway, I just traded for a 70 superbee that according to previous owner is an original, one repaint Nevada car. Repaint isn't anything great, but car is amazingly solid and unrestored.
It currently has a 440 in it and is a 4 speed bucket seat car. I believe it to have been the lime green color as I can see in places what look to be the original paint.

One place I searched the VIN said it was an original 383 car.... I was told it was a 440 car.....

Anyway, any one have an idea where I could get an option tag for the car and locate a build sheet?

Also if anyone is selling a console, I'd love to drop one in.

Where is the best place to get a new headliner, carpet and seat covers.... Some stitching is coming loose from age.

Thanks
Brian

Welcome to the site. So you're saying the fender tag is missing? (cowl tag is a GM thing.) I'm not aware of anywhere that has a database to tell you what fender tag options are for your car based solely on the VIN. Perhaps you could try the Superbee Registry? Maybe someone registered our car before the tag was lost? Long shot but worth a few phone calls and emails.

Your "BEE" should have a fender option tag on the top of the inside of the driver's side fender.....if there it should list all the option codes the car came with.......if not there I think your out of luck......after I bought my 70 RR last year I checked on if there was a database somewhere that Chrysler had to check on option codes, dates, ect....doing a search of my VIN number but was told Chrysler did not keep any past records........

If the fender tag is there just do a search of how to de-code a Mopar fender tag......lots of sites out there that list all the codes for each year.....

Yes, sorry. Fender tag is missing.

I will check the superbee registry, thank you for the help.

There are several companies that make reproduction fender tags. The biggest issue is that it will be impossible to make it accurately. Especially if your car was built at the "A" Plant (Lynch Rd). If you guess at the VON (Vehicle Order Number) and SPD (Scheduled Production Date) #'s, it will be easy for hardcore #'s guys to detect as a fake and now the rest of the car falls into question... Best bet, don't worry about it and just enjoy the car!

As mentioned, you can't get the car options from the VIN, but you can at least get the engine. The fifth digit of the VIN is the engine. There are lots of possibilities, but here are a few:
L: 383 2BBL
N: 383 4 BBL HP
T: 440 4 BBL
U: 440 4 BBL HP

Like other people said, unless you bought it as an investment, don't worry so much about the missing fender tag. Mine is missing on my car, so it gives me the license to modify!!!

If it is an "amazingly solid and unrestored" car you might find a broadcast sheet. The could be anywhere; mine had one in the dash above the glove box, one on a headliner bow and one under the carpet. My 70 GTX also had the fender tag. Everything on my fender tag was on the broadcast sheet. If you find the sheet you can reconstruct the fender tag from that.
