1970 GTX Four Door!?!

Made some progress on putting the car back together today, it sucks when the parts didn't look too bad coming off, but now they need replaced! The chrome on my bumpers is shot, and the rear actually has some rust through, but they will have to do for now. I'll work extra hours sometime and reward myself in the future, but I just want to get it back together!

My first reaction is; WTF!!!
But I do like it.
Great Job Ralphie!

That looks fantastic (as always). Love the LX-based Charger Daytona sitting in the background in the earlier shots. Almost suggestive of a spiritual successor.

looking real good, i like the 4 doors an wagons just as much...that blue intense pearl is a beautiful color, had it on my neon r/t. very nice nice job, are you gonna be at the nats, i will be looking for that hotrod.

Thanks guys, I'll be at nats, but I think I'm taking my dart this year, too much stuff to sort out on this car. I thought that too about the Daytona cudak888, at least I'm consistent, I like ridiculous four door mopars!

Got the taillights and trim in today, I like the gtx-satellite style tail panel, but I had my doubts. I think it looks good with the go-wing. Also put my side markers in, the lenses need replaced and they were still blue from the first paint job, so I threw them in for now. I have a laundry list of trinket stuff that I'm planning on picking up at nats, if I can scrounge some coin by then, lol!image.jpgimage.jpg

Ralphie, your car looks TERRIFIC! Nice to see another 4 door being saved and the GTX 4 door route is really cool!

Thanks roadrunnerh, I appreciate it!

So my friend came over and helped me put the side stripes on, and I couldn't be happier! The reflective black stripes just complete the look, I can't believe this is the same car I had in high school! It definitely wasn't this nice, lol!image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Picked up a couple small things at mopar nats, and I've been having fun adding little stickers and emblems. I also reblocked the air grabber door and painted it and the side scoop inserts blue. Body wise, this thing is nearing completion! Now to go through the suspension and a disc brake upgrade, but that won't be until winter at soonest. I'm just going to put around the neighborhood and enjoy it for a bit!

I've thought about it - but haven't gone to the extent of adding all the stickers. Most of the originals were lost in the restoration. I like having them on there, but what are you going to do. I may do what you did down the road. It does add to the look....

A few stickers/labels here and there add to the coolness IMHO...

I peeled off what was left and put a new radiator sticker right on top of the old one

btw, I love that you checked off the air grabber option on your order sheet :headbang:

One more finishing touch added today, I wanted the gtx emblem on the trunk, but since it's not a restoration, I decided to use the 67 dash emblem. It says gtx belvedere, and kind of pays tribute to where this car started life!

Spring is almost here, getting pumped to get her back on the road this year! My tires are shot on the torque thrusts, so I briefly put these from my dart on her so I could get some miles in last year (way too small, lol). I have some 15x8 steelies for the rear, and some 15x6 for the front I want to paint blue and throw on it for a second set. Something about dog dishes I love, although on the sedan it will make it look more like a pursuit. I guess theres nothing wrong with that!

Thanks for posting this thread. I'm sure you have inspired, a few people to get going on their rides.

Not sure how I missed this one:eusa_whistle:

Dude, your harcore!! I dig the more door as 2 door anything is crazy money. You have made it your own!:icon_salut: I like when guys take more door or wagons and make GTX's or RoadRunners.
I hope you put a big block for muscle and keep the old school theme! Came out awsome, great work.
The interior is fantastic:love4:

Thanks guys, I appreciate it! And it does have a 400 big block in it with a mild comp cam, bark way bigger than its bite! I do have another 400 and a 440 crank on the shelf...that'll have to wait for the funds to replenish a bit!

Glad to see her back, Ralphie! I've been missing seeing my favorite GTX of all time ;)

Plus +1000 on the idea of color-matched steelies, by the way. I'm biased, of course, but it really would look fantastic.

Bet that will get a lot more attention at a car show than the true blue fully restored GTX sitting next to it. Why? It's different. It's cool. It's a car you can drive and have fun with. Nice job!

(For the record, I DO drive my 70 Road Runner too - no museum pieces for me!)

So I'm still going to paint my steelies but...I'm in love with this look for a bit! I was just putting these on as placeholders for a bit, the tires are shot, but now I want to buy tires for these! Decisions, decisions, lol!
