1970 Plymouth Sport Satellite from Junk to......

While waiting for parts I did some front end tuning and alignment of the grill etc. until I get the rest of the missing chrome pieces this will do pig…..

Oh and added a “Sport Satellite “ emblem above the stock grill moniker. It’s from a 68 and it’s the only body mod to the car. I think it’s what Chrysler shoulda done IMO.

Update: Rear drum brakes were probably the originals so I rebuilt them including the brake cylinders with custom internals to help prevent rear wheel lock up.

Almost three months, man?
Are you okay?

Update: I didn’t like the way the lifters were being lubricated. So I inspected the rocker shafts and all the rockers. One shaft was installed backwards. The rocker shafts did not have the duel oiling holes and didn’t have the banana relief ground in. Also one rocker had partial broken flange. I was lucky enough to get a set of excellent shafts and rocker arm from Rocket over at FABO. Great guy! I installed them and verified that lubrication out of all the rocker arms. Good to go. Put new end cPs on the shafts after careful preparation.
Also verified that this engine is a solid lifter set up which I thought given those rockers.

Update: My radiator sprung a leak. It probably had 20 hours of run time on it. But after sitting for 4 years I guess it was unhappy. So I bought a new 3 row Cold Case aluminum radiator and modified my fan shroud minimally to accommodate. Checker thermostat operation and all works well under pressure.

Is that a Spongebob Squarepants rag you had there??? ;-)

Update: After 4-5 years she fired right up. I had to modify my kickdown linkage significantly and also the throttle linkage to accommodate the new intake manifold.

I am now in the process of tuning the motor but it’s been 110°F outside and god knows what inside….

Also I have another carb which has Vacuum Secondaries and am contemplating using a MVA distributor (which I have not bought yet). I am planning on getting the set as is dialed in as best I can (distributor curves and carb) before I change anything.

Oh also had a bad VR. I bench tested and verified that it wasn’t switching. So I put a new one in and its charging again just fine.

Beautiful car! You can be very proud of all the work you have done and will do! Wait, did that just sound like Kamala Harris?????

Um also my original turn signal switch cracked. 50 year old plastic gets darn brittle after 50 plus years! Also put in a new upper steering bearing in while I was there. The old one was fine but it was the right thing to do.
It all works good but sometimes my horn goes off when I yank on the turn signal lever.
I installed a horn button in the steering wheel. I bet you can’t find it!

Upon looking again, it was The Simpsons!!!
Actually it’s a 100% cotton surgical towel. If you have had any major surgery this was used. They are real handy and if a surgical kit is opened and not used they throw them out…… great shop towels!

I have a big box in my garage, too. Great towels. Years ago I bought a large garbage bag full of the from St. E Hospital in Egdewood, KY for $40.
