2015 5th Annual FABO NHRA "Pick 'Em" Game - Are You Ready To Make Your Picks???

OK, here's the information on how the points were reset. The same as the past several years:

The plan is based on NHRA's model but is even more competitive. NHRA gives the points leader a 30-point lead over 2nd-place, then 10 points separate each succeeding place (third, fourth, fifth, etc.).
But, just like the last three years, here's what I did after the U.S. Nationals as a starting point for the remaining six races for the 2015 FABO Championship and bragging rights: 1st place points was re-set at 2000 points. 2nd place was reset at 1970 points. Each succeeding place is separated by a maximum of 10 points unless the existing point totals difference following the U.S. Nationals is less than 10 points; existing point differences were used where the difference was less than 10 points. So if you're in 3rd place or lower in the standings and 40 points behind the person in front of you before the points were reset, you're now only 10 points behind after the points were reset; but if you were only 2 points behind the person in front of you before the points were reset, you're still only 2 points behind them after the points reset.

This tightens the points up even more from 1st to 24th and will make the last six races even more competitive.
Also, this isn't just for bragging rights. There will be a little something for the overall winner at the end of the season. I will pick up something during the season for the winner and several of our players have picked up some things in the past when attending various NHRA National events through the season. I'll post a pic of what I have for the winner at the completion of the season.

As before, this is going to be fun!

Before you look at the reset points, please read the following IMPORTANT INFORMATION because it won't be reposted. You will miss out if you don't read it.
* It is your responsibility from here on out to post your picks on time without a reminder. I'm not going to post reminders or send PM's.
* The "pick carry over" that was initiated last year is no longer in effect. If you don't post picks before the start of Pro Qualifying at each event then you will miss out on all event bonus points. If you don't post picks before the start of eliminations, you will miss out on all points for that event.
* If you miss posting picks for two consecutive events during the "Countdown" you will "lose your sponsor" and have pretend you're Spencer Massey and sit out the rest of the season.
* The only way to guarantee your picks are posted is to make sure you post them prior to the deadline, or "lock" your picks in for the remainder of the season. As before, you can always change your "locked-in" picks by posting new ones on the game thread.

1970 that was a good year (my born on date) LOL

Nice work GP and Bud! We're looking good in the countdown. 4 of our 7 guys are in the top 10 - with 2 holding down the top 2 spots! That's a nice representation considering FBBO is a large minority overall in the game (7 out of 24 players).

Congrats to FBBO's own Gpuller & 64BEL

Aslant FBBO's own on top ya' gotta' love that

FBBO lives matter!

...LOL...

Anybody else notice that Shawn Langdon has not yet entered any of the Countdown events?
I saw a story somewhere that the U.S. Nationals might be the final event for the year for the AJR team if they couldn't secure funding. Although they're not one of my favorites, I hope they get something put together soon.

I thought they had Toyota & Bass Pro for a season long deal,
but I guess not, I saw they had Guys sandwich deal on the car again @ Indy...

It'd be sad to not see them race...

I found this on the Alan Johnson Racing website this afternoon:
"Still Searching for Sponsorship: Alan Johnson Racing needs a primary sponsor in order to complete the 2015 season. The sponsorship search has been ongoing since the team unexpectedly lost its funding a month before the 2015 season began. Langdon is currently driving the Knuckle Sandwich Toyota Top Fuel dragster. Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Alan Johnson Racing’s longest-standing partner having first joined the team in 2001, is funding the team. Thanks to Toyota’s increased backing, the team has been racing while searching for primary sponsorship. Alan Johnson Racing hopes to compete in the Countdown to the Championship NHRA Playoffs, but it must secure additional sponsorship to do so.
"Next Race: If sufficient sponsorship is in place, Alan Johnson Racing will be back in action Sept. 18-20, 2015 at the 8th annual NHRA Carolina Nationals near Charlotte. For additional information, please visit nhra.com. For additional information on Alan Johnson Racing, please visit alanjohnsonracing.com."

Wonder if Spencer Massey is looking for a ride? LOL

What happened to him (Again?)
So: Do we have the definitive answer to what happened this time?
Still Alcohol?

I looked on the net yesterday and couldn't find anything more about him.

Probably

like the old saying goes;

Instant asshole just add alcohol

some people just can't handle it,
shouldn't make stupid derogatory comments, while drinking
{Beer all of things, how much beer (or plain stupidity) would you have to drink to be that damn stupid, to jeopardize a great dream job, that most would give their left nut to have}
That was his Org. offense & was warned if it ever happened again "he'd be gone",
IIRC @ the NHRA top 10 points winners awards gathering...

A zebra or tiger, just can't change their stripes, especially a drunk one...LOL

And,
That is what happened the last time.
At a NHRA Black Tie Banquet he was intoxicated and brought a "6-pack" in....
"My kind of guy"

I personally think Don Schumacher gave him his 2nd chance and as you state Budnicks, he blew it.

He is (was) a good driver.

Things change day by day!
I just read on competitionplus.com, and I've been told the same info is on nhra.com, that Alan Johnson and Don Schumacher have worked a deal to allow Shawn Langdon to run the remainder of the 2016 NHRA season as the driver of Spencer Massey's DSR Top Fuel car. Langdon remains under contract to AJR and will return to AJR at the close of the season.
I'm sure John Force is as pleased as he can be that Langdon is now in a DSR car - even if it is just for the remainder of the season (and I'm not too sure about that with Schumacher's past history).

Anybody want to change their Top Fuel driver pick for the upcoming race at Charlotte?
