The temp is perfect, goes up to 180 t stat open comes right down to 150 ... no smoke , no coolant in oil ... what could it be ?You do not need to drill the stat. Most stats have a jiggle valve to let air escape; if not the air will escape...drum roll...when the stat opens.
If the cooling system has been open to the atmosphere, it can take a few heating up/cooling down cycles for all the air to be purged.
Chrys used shim steel head gaskets...which rust out over time around the coolant openings.
wouldn't this cause some kind of heating issue? If there is actually no leaks,,, which it sounds like there isn't from info given..
Possibly some of the headgasket holes are plugged ,leading to localized Hotspot, creating a boiling situation
Not necessarily. That's why they call it a localized Hotspot. And the exact reason, they put exact size holes in the gasket.wouldn't this cause some kind of heating issue?
