I have thought of that.. i really can't take a chance of hurting that windshield though.. i will get some help eventually.. I have the trans unbolted from the motor, since it's locked i can't undo the TC bolts.. might try to get the trans out first.. i'm starting to get in RUSH RUSH mode.. and that's bad... long term project.. relaxUse some straps and the engine hoist to remove the hood.
If the motor is locked, I would keep the engine/trans attached and pull them both from the top. Need to remove the hood and have clearance in the garage. Less likely to break the trans/TC.I have thought of that.. i really can't take a chance of hurting that windshield though.. i will get some help eventually.. well pewp.. all unbolted... i figured i would get a jack under the trans and lift the motor up a little then forward to clear the converter (taking off the timing cover and front of engine for more clearance) then up and outIf the motor is locked, I would keep the engine/trans attached and pull them both from the top. If you have room to pull them apart then give it a try. With the radiator out, you could probably pull the engine forward with the the engine lift. And then work the trans back and down. It's a lot harder with the torque converter in place.well pewp.. all unbolted... i figured i would get a jack under the trans and lift the motor up a little then forward to clear the converter (taking off the timing cover and front of engine for more clearance) then up and out
yeah.. issue is i have to do all this alone and with a messed up shoulder... so figured not pulling both together might be a little easier than handling the whole thing at onceIf you have room to pull them apart then give it a try. Or pull the engine forward and get to the TC bolts from up top.
I hear that ! The older I get makes it even harder. But I don't have any other hobbies. This is all I know.. issue is i have to do all this alone
Nice, i didn't know something like that existedA number of years ago I bought one of these to remove hoods without help. Bolt it to cherry picker and go. Best $100 spent.

I did every bit of my 69 GTX by myself. I wasn't injured but it is taxing. Hood, roof, glass, engine and trans install. It was a workout for sure and did no favors to my back and knees.I hear that ! The older I get makes it even harder. But I don't have any other hobbies. This is all I know.
My old joke is it keeps me out of bars and chasing wild women !!
I thought bout pulling the heads first but i have zero chance i can get the manifolds off
