Here are a few pics of the 66 belvedere II i picked up. Paid 850$ for it pretty solid, bad part there was no title but I found the original cert card with owners info. Im going to try and track her down. Going to build a super stock drag car.
I have a complete rebuilt 318 with trans , guy that built it said it has about 275-300hp. Plans are to race with this engine then next year buy a 408 stroker.
Questions for you guys. What rear end ratio and stall converter would you guys recommend

The converter has to be built for the following:
Weight of car
Rear gear ratio
Rear tire size
Cam specs
That will get you started, you can buy an off the shelf converter also??

I need some coaching. Just want to start out with what I have now , then get faster every season.

Nice car and a very good price! I've got one too. It's a daily driver and driven 60 miles to the dragstrip (100 miles this weekend) for street'n strip bracket racing. It's got a poly with a mild cam. A PTC 2300-2400 stall converter with a built 727 transmission. I'm running a 3.23 sure grip in a 742 case. Will be dropping a poly stroked to 350 to 360 cu. in. this winter. Planning to keep same rear gear and converter with new motor. This site has very good info on our cars. There is a Facebook group for the poly engines there is a great deal of expertise there for the old "boat anchors". The group is called "Polyspherical aka Poly 318".
Like VeryFastCoronet said, there are several factors to determine the stall for the converter. To properly determine you'll need to know specifics about the camshaft as well as vehicle weight, engine displacement, rear gear and rear tire size.

Can I make a suggestion? Get rid of the long rear spring shackles, they will give you to much lateral body movement. I put "Super Stockers" from a company in Kansas (google it) I'm pretty happy with them and the service was great as was the price. You get about a two and half inch additional height over a new set of springs. Put new shackle bushings in to tighten it up even more.

Auggie

Nice ride! An old friend is giving me his fathers 67 satellite this weekend.
Probably turn it into drag car. Will decide once I get it Saturday.

If you need parts replaced I have a ton. Let me know what you might need after assessing your car and PM me. Pics are available to. Nice pick up...cr8crshr/Tuck:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:

I would assume the teen isn't in the car yet? If not, dyno it and see what it has. My bet is that the torque level is going to be fairly low and won't come on until at least 3000 rpm or better depending on what cam is in it.....
