Coming along nicely.....Getting close to paint!

Exciting!

Justin

Hey Mike, are you going or have you gone to the Houston Autorama?

So I spent 2 hrs at the paint store this morning...choose 2- 1/2pts to test of the colors I thought I wanted. Now I'm really confused,
I didn't go with the Egyptian Gold that I thought I wanted, thought it might be a little ghetto for what it is.. Guy ended up mixing a wrong color and gave it to me for free.
The middle one was the freebee it's nice but is more modern looking than I want. The light green turns gold in the sun light, I'll get some pics tommorow. I threw down 3 coats of base and 3 clear on each over one of the quarters I cut out to use as a panel...
Now one of my favorites initially was the Delmonico Red Dodge came out with, but I didn't think my body work would be good enough for such a dark color. My F.I.L thinks it is, so now I'm thinking again...

Out of those 3 I like the one furtherst to the right.

I too like the one on the far right.

The only other colors I would try is the black and gold from 1986 dodge Ram trucks.

Leaning to the right out of those 3

Still dont have direct sunlight but this is a little better pic for comparison.
The gold had some damage to the clear, I was trying to get them all shot and drying with a heat gun and when I cover the gold the paper fell and stuck to the clear..

I really like silvers/grays like @mmissile , @threewood & @Torkmnstr.... Just wanted something different.
I like the b5 blues, really like the maroons but it seems there are so many of them out there. The only gold coronet I've seen is @Schober Motorsports and thought his car really looked great...kinda fits the late 60s muscle/drag car persona.... haven't seen any green other than a couple of OE F4 types (68-70).
I guess I'm torn between the two on the ends....but now Steve has me wondering about doing the Delmonico Red now...

Take your time it will come to you.

Isn't red one of the most expensive colors? I like many of the present day reds that are out there but after having two red vehicles, I really don't like the older traditional reds like Dodge used on their trucks. I also like the darker blue metallics and dark grays and have grown to like silver too. Had a 66 Mustang that was maroon and liked that color too. Painted a 66 Charger gold and it looked pretty good but that was just a model car :D Btw, both of my red vehicles dulled out pretty fast and the clear coat on my truck lifted....:(

Haven't seen any post on yours lately...anything new???
I have taken the year off. closed my shop. over the last year I've built my own building (no leasing)On new property we picked up a couple years ago. Its being wired this week and hope to be back working this spring. coronet is in storage. but have been picking up lots of parts. picked the wife up a 50 chevy 3100 5 window tho. Thanks for asking.

Ya the reds seem to be the $$$ pigment...of the 3 I have right now are Matrix mid grade and will cost about $370-400 a gall... I picked one gold and he quoted me almost $900....I move a hue or two down and got it to where I'm at now.
I thought the Coatings Store and Ukreme were kind of hi , bit I guess not. I just dint know about choosing a color online...
I'm more confused than I was when I started!!!!

Ya I missed seeing your build, hope to read some more soon!
Leasing sucks...for anything...the only benefit is lack of obligation long-term....
Glad to here you'll be the king of the castle!!!
