Thats true patience! That is a long time waiting, when you do get road ready and legal, you'll be logging the miles up quick ill wager! :)

installed to original interior, still need to get carpet, headliner, package tray & seat covers, but now all my screws are where they are supposed to be, so when i do replace that stuff i wont have to dig through my BUCKET OF BOLTS to find the correct screws yesnod the rear window is just sitting there i still gotta do the body work around it.

It's no wonder I love these cars, no other car can compare to the lines of a Charger. Sweat pics

Wow! I love the pictures from the front! MEAN looking. Love that scoop to!
I may have to think about putting that on my hood!
I am jealous!

updated my alternator & put a clutch fan with stock pulley set up

well as y'all know i changed my direction on the charger & cut in all the jams & started putting the car back together,i wanted to get it drivable, the old 383 sounded great so that was my plan,,to drive & work on it & build the 511 as money was available, well i worked on getting all my pulleys lined up & updated the alternator, was checking the timing & pulled the dist to recurve the advance, i found the oil pump drive bushing was wiped out & the cam is GRINDING away at the lifters
[ going flat ] ,so my charger project is done for awhile

Man that sucks, the lifter in the pic looks good "is it a different one"? Sucks what you have to do to get your lifters to last now days, a buddy of mine runs Rotella diesel oil in his flat tappet cam motors, so far I've had great luck with the Lucas additive and Valvoline. Best of luck to ya and if you could give a little info on the belt setup that would be great (I'll be adding A/C and need to figure it out).

dont buy the alum pulleys if you are going to use FAN blade, they are to thick for the water pump pilot to center the fan blade,i am selling my CVFRACING PULLEYS

That sucks about your motor. Your car does look sinister. Reminds me of Blade's:

That does suck! after all you've done but i hope its a short interruption for you, seems there is always something to stop us in our tracks, mine usually money but i had one that was the engine that stopped me for awhile. Sorry to hear of it. Good luck.

Are the pulley that you are selling the right ones for the A/C setup, I could always do some machining to it? How many grooves does the crank pulley have? The reason I ask is because I have a three groove using one for water and alt another for power steering with one left (the one closest to the block) and I'm crammed for space (fan would hit a 4 groove). I'd really appreciate any pics or even part #'s for the pulleys you used. PM me a price on the pulleys if they are the correct ones for A/C. Thanks

I checked that link "don't like they're setup" they show one belt on the alt and not very much contact either. I have a 100 amp alt that squeals the belt, I'd like to have two belts on it like yours. Did you have to go with an aftermarket power steering pump?

Zinc in your oil

Going back to your camshaft dilemma..........

The problem with today's oils is that they do not have hardly any Zinc in them any more.:angryfire:
Sometime during the late 1990's, the EPA stepped in and decided that Zinc was a harmful pollutant. (sort of like lead in gasoline). :violent-smiley-100:

That and the fact that most (if not all) of today's engine use a roller camshaft, which do not require it.

Comp Cams and I believe Brad Penn oils have the zinc additive in them that we need to use in our cars with any flat tappet cam, hydraulic or mechanical.

There are others too, but your new cam will go flat on you again if you do not run enough zinc in your oil.

I normally swap to a synthetic shortly after break in and then add a can of Comp Cams Zinc Additive.

Hope this helps you in the future.

cdrThat car is bad to the bone, with a touch of mean, wicked awesome. I mean yea its cool..
