Well be real busy lately but just not on the car. But I did just get my A12 six pack base. It's the fiberglass one from year one. Looks like a good piece so far. Just couldn't see paying 750 for a repop metal one at this point!

Yikes!! I would have sold you mine for $749.00 lol. What a shaft.....

Do you have a metal one for sale GetX'd? BTW I'm picking up my personal plate tonight, any guesses on what it says???????

that is a great looking tag, will be excellent for your car and color.

Yeah I thought the A12 and the blue fade would go with the car nicely! Not to mention I grew up on the farm and work for John Deere.

I bought an unused Snobar repro top and base from a member here a couple years back. I thought $900 was a screaming deal, but know my luck so I knew the price would drop right after I bought it. It took a while, but the price finally went down. The one I bought is still in the box it came in, laying in the attic worth about half what I paid for it. Sunk costs.

I agree, I could see paying that for it. I should make a die for them and start producing them. It burns my a$$ that people think they need to make enough money off one item to retire on! Don't get me wrong I like to make $ too!

So I managed to get a little done yesterday even though it was 95 with a 110 heat index!
I got the pan skid plate out to prep for welding on.IMG_20150712_073310.jpg
I didn't like the looks of the welds on the outside with the extra material. So I cut that off and ground it smooth.

I then bead blasted it to get all the laser scale off the cut edges.

Then I welded the seams on the inside and reblasted the welds. I was careful to leave the drain holes open. I will prime & paint the inside before welding to the K frame. I then ran out of steam from the heat and called it a day.

Well the overtime at work is over and I can start to focus on the car more now!!! Got some wheel lip moldings from MCB. They were also made by metro. I was very hesitent about buying them as the last metro set I bought were very bad. Scott assured me these were better so I tried them. I haven't intsalled them yet but just holding them up I could tell they are much better and am sure they'll be fine. So if you decide you need these ask for the ones that have the RF ,LF RR LR stamped on the part and not hand scribed.
Second I got my skid plate welded on the K member and ready for final paint. Getting excited all over again!
I am going to the Clear Lake, Iowa car show this weekend to spectate. I'll try to get some pics to share. Feels good to be back in the garage, even though I miss my dog Milo helping.

I can really appreciate the length you are going to 69GTX and that will be an awesome car when you get done! A simple question to you 69 GTX and the group. I am stripping out inside floor, trunk and underside of a 69 Coronet and taking the seam sealer out as there is rust starting in places underneath the seam sealer. The intent is to go back with POR15 inside trunk, interior floor and the complete underside. Here is my question.....Is it standard practice to go back with seam sealer AFTER the POR15 or is that wasted effort? I kind of think it is redundant since the POR 15 is supposed to be the absolute in metal protection...just wondered if there is something I am missing with seam sealer application? I love those pictures of the step-by-step and can't wait to see more as you make progress.Mocajava

Mo I had mine sealed then caulked then painted over that. My thinking is that way you have 3 chances to get it seal to weather. Thanks for the kind words, I can't wait to lay some rubber!

Don't put a jack on/under that skid plate, someone said they'll bend/dent. I put a 2x6 board on top of my jack, but I have no motor in.... I can relate to the wanting to get back to the car work, I've been working on my house a lot lately, but want to/will soon get back on my car.... I suggest getting another dog., a perfect "shelter pup" is waiting for you somewhere. I think Milo would approve. My other dogs have helped me get thru losing the 2 that I lost in the past couple of years.

Thanks Kid. Yes I think as soon as we get back from vacation in Sept. we are going to get a rescue dog. We have our eye on a senior dog that needs a good home and I'm sure Milo would approve also. 10-4 on the jacking. I need to make me a couple inserts for the floor jack that i can use in different places on the car.

Not that it matters at this point - but I do have one that's not for sale. Hope yours works well for you - and I'm enjoying your thread.

GetX'd could you post or PM me some pics of your A12 base. I need to make some brackets and drain tubes for mine.
Thanks Ron, I will post that burnout when it happens!!

Also does anyone have a recommended person for wipermotor restoration?

Passion 4 Mopars down in FL does a nice job. I also think that there is someone who took over the reigns for Jules the Wiperman too but I can't recall his name now.
