Thanks CD I tried to make it look like a factory job. It was a lot easier with the rotisserie!

Well I got a little done last night after mowing the yard. Got the rear view mirror bracket, & horns painted. Looked for my receipt for motor mounts, couldn't it so looks like I'll be reworking them to fit better. I looked at the saddle where they sit. Looks to have about .125-.175 of clearance between the ears so I'll be making some shims to close that up. Also I decided to weld a washer on the outside ears of the mounts where I had the bushings in the holes. This should help the bolt from flexing and moving around and also strengthen the ear a little. I'm also going to make a tab to bolt on the drivers side for a torque strap that I can build after the power steering pump is in place.

Funny how some of us take parts and think of ways to make them better! We just can't help it..lol.. great work , very jealous..

NSS Never satisfied syndrome, Thanks Kid

great job 69,that b5 monster is closer to wake up time.

Got the mini starter ordered today. I'm hoping to mock up the engine & tranny soon. I want to make sure the starter clears everything, also kickdown linkage. Will be way easier out of the car. Then I'll install the tranny/convertor up underneath. then lower the engine in. I'm afraid with the Gear Vendor OD that the combo will be to long to install the old school way. Plus this way I'll be way less likely to scratch anything. I'll post pictures as I go as I myself like visual info much better. Gotta call PTC and see what the status is for the convertor. I'd like to have the engine by the end of May. It's hard trying to have everything go smoothly if you forget something and it takes 3-5 day for it to arrive!

Well got a little more done over the weekend. Got the new jets so reassembled the carbs. Got new brackets for return spring & throttle cable installed. Also ordered Taylor 8" plug wire protectors. Very nice product, a little tuff to install on 90 degree boots but can be done.

I may have to put a straight or 45degree boot on 5&6.

Made this bracket and put it on the motormount bracket to help hold a plug wire on the other side.

Tig welded a washer on the motor mount to get rid of the slop & strengthen the ear a bit.

Did this to measure the width of the motor mount holes on the K frame and make sure the installed mounts on the motor were the same when tighten down.

So I ordered a tranny dipstick & tube from Mega parts. Good news, it arrived quickly, cheap shipping,& came with the o ring. Bad news is the inside of it was filthy. You can see the powdered rubber I cleaned out of the dipstick lid. So I was wondering what was inside the tube so I ran one of my 20 ga shotgun brushes down it and look at all the dirt that came out on my pants. Moral of the story just because it comes in a sealed bag doesn't mean it's clean!

Got my new poly tranny mount. It looks to be about .2 taller than the old one. Hopefully that doesn't cause a problem. Hoping the old one has sag.

Got a new starter from DB electric off ebay. Wow I ordered it one day had it the next. 1 year full replacement . I removed the terminal extensions.

And great news It can be installed with headers in place!

I mocked up the tranny to check the starter and a few other things.

The bell crank clears just fine. I need to get the upper bell crank pivot and rod to the carb to finish up the fitment. So far so good!

Yes it's a mini starter. I had seen several people had bought theirs. Was only 69$ free shipping. The powermaster starters were about 250-300$ and basically same starter with a billet snout. My set up is 10:1 440 so I figured it would be fine. Headers are TTI BTW. I entered 94 Dakota when ordering the starter

I also have a friend with a plasma cut me out some stuff (big help). Here are shims to take some of the slop out of the motor mounts.

Here's the tab I made for the torque link. .47 hole at one end and .4 the other for 3/8 & 7/16 bolts.

Just put it on loose to may sure it fit. I'll finish the rest after the engine is in.

I also painted my switch panel for the dash last night. Anyone have hints on how to paint the white lettering to make it look nice. I was thinking of some sort of roller???????

Oh and by the way if your bead blasting. If you blast anything greasy in there you will probably also have fisheye problems on parts blasted for paint. Make sure to wipe them down with thinner before your first coat.

Looks like my PTC convertor will be delivered tomorrow!
