I have to say that I admire your artistic talents with your dash. I was missing the cluster and took the lazy way out by buying one that someone else reworked.

I would say anyone can do it with a little patience & some reading glasses. Just very tedious. It's probably not quite as nice as a Instrument Specialty's job, but it also didn't cost that much either. I do have one item that may be hard to find though. Anyone know where to find the small plug that goes in the tach/clock area? I still have mine but it's badly discolored and would look terrible if I put it in.

Thanks 408SWINGER, got my shift lever. It's very nice! Thanks again.

So I tried to get a little done on my gauge cluster this afternoon. First the circuit board and lights. I was one short on the sockets so I stole one out of my 77 dodge truck, I'll put it in tomorrow.

So I bought the Mega Parts switch knows kit. Pretty pricey, but what you going to do. So first one I looked at was the thumbwheel. Not a match!

So the oem wheel has teeth all the way around. Second the tooth pitch is .050 on the oem, .090 on the aftermarket piece.

That sucks, looks like they expect the teeth to run on the partal "gear" on the new poorly injection moulded wheel. Probably more than the rotation you need, but not right! Did you see on mine where I disassembled the rheostat assembly and turned my wheel 180* or so to get a nice clean section that covers full dim to full on span?

Jamie is good, I suspect he'll take it back with it that wrong!

So the oem wasn't that bad so I left in rather than try to make the repop work.
So on to the wiper rocker. So what do you think of this.

So I opened up the screw holes on the switch from .180 to .210 so I could get the rocker straight in the hole.

So after getting that straight, the washer button went on ok. So next the four way flasher switch I'm going to use for the overdrive switch. I had to put .100 worth on the back to space the switch back away from the panel so it'd be flush at the bottom like the other switches. I still need to get a new rocker for the switch.

So I got all the switches in and fitted. 15 minute job took 1.5 hours.

That's rediculous! That much money for some out of spec, messed up Chinese plastic.

Drat! I missed out on 2 courtesy lights for the ignition yesterday. Day late, dollar short I guess.

Well I go in tomorrow for Lazik eye surgery. Getting my distance vision corrected. So I'll be off the rest of the week. I'll have to see what the Doc says I can and can't do for a couple days. Maybe I can sneak some X time in. Or at least take inventory and get some stuff ordered.

Best wishes for a fast recovery!

I had lasik done about 12 years ago and have been enjoying 20/15 distance since. And you will be back on it the next day. My eyes felt sunburned for about 2 or 3 hours after getting it done. Took some pain meds, took a nap and woke up 2 hours later and was cleaning the garage an hour later. Felt about 95%. Bring some dark sunglasses with you, the ride home is bright lol.

Good luck on your eye surgery. I think I will need that surgery coming up one of these years. My dad had it done a few years back and has been happy with it.

Good luck. My wife had it done and made a world of difference. She had dry eyes for a while and has to put special drops in, but 3 years later still good.
