70 Charger R/T SE Daytona sunroof project is starting soon.

Making some progress on what seems like an endless birage of nuts bolts and hardware to blast clean prime and paint.

How many people do you know who are almost 60 years old, work 12 hour days, leave work at 7 PM and go home and rip the front end assembly out of a 52 year old Charger R/T? Me,I only know one. All that is left to do tomorrow night, is 4 upper control arm cam bolts, two upper shock absorber bolts, three steering box bolts, and separate the upper control arms from the spindles. Then more pieces to blast, clean, prime, paint, and install bushings into! Yeah!

I'm trying hard to get beyond the crusty, dirty greasy and surface rusted part of this project! I never seen so much sand and grime on a car that is not rotted or rusty at all!

After removing the complete front end and brake system, the girls getting a little heavy in the *** with that big Ole Dana 60 rear axle in the back and nothing in the front. So I wrapped a ratchet strap around the arms of the lift so the car doesn't *** plant itself on the garage floor! When the car is all the way up on the lift I have a screw jack stand under the Dana!

I got the tortion bars and front sway cleaned up and ready to prime and paint. They are too big to fit in the blast cabinet so I had to clean them by hand. After degreasing them,I sanded them with an electric palm sander. They cleaned up pretty good.

That’s the thing about desert cars, packed full of sand, and because there’s no salt and not enough water to turn into rust. So 50 years down the road a lucky winner gets eat all of it when they decide to restore the car!

I spent about three hours last night glass beading hopefully the last of the front end parts for this car. Now I have to clean, prep, prime and paint them. I also blasted the 4 speed clutch and brake pedal assembly.

The tedious process of blasting, priming and painting parts and hardware continues!

There's only one grunt, and i'm it! lol! Tonight I made the critical mistake of laying down in front of the television, instead of going right into the garage, and woke up three hours later! My plan was to spend the night working on cleaning up the loft. Well that didn't happen! So I went out and removed the K frame from the Charger. Two of the bolts were not to happy about coming out after being in the same spot for 52 years. After running the impact gun in both directions they finally broke loose and I was able to remove the K frame and knock the rest of the dirt out of it! Now I can start prepping it for paint too! I also spent an hour blasting more front end parts and hardware, including the four K frame mounting bolts! I feel like I salvaged a night that almost was completely unproductive!

Lol! It's a top secret location! I'm sorry but you don't have clearance to know that information!
