70 Hemi Superbird Restoration..................errr.....scratch that........

Fun with fiberglass… ugh. The deck lid was oddly shaped along the front and one side had 3/8 taper and both needed material added. I ran out of resin this weekend or it would be done. The template is the shape it needs to be in order to match the car.

The engine bay is coming along. One of my buddies is spending way too much time on it, smoothing everything lol. I would’ve knocked the weld berries off and painted it. We cut the openings in the firewall for EGT plug bezels. You can see one over on the passenger side. Other than that, it’s fairly stock looking.

The nose got wet sanded and buffed today. The trim and some other parts got blasted and epoxy primed. We’ll put the nose decals on after Christmas.

Any tips for taking a curve out of a hood or adding width? About .25-.375
Thanks
Tim

Fiberglass, I assume ? I added over 1/2” to this trunk lid by tapering the original top and bottom edges back about 3/4”. Then, with the lid on a stand in the upside down position, I used a piece of sheet metal clamped to the top surface deck lid as a support for the first layers of fiberglass matt. Wax paper keeps the fiberglass from sticking to the sheet metal. After that cured, I flipped it over, roughed the cured layer with 36 grit, and added more layers on top. The cured bottom layer will then support the new glass matt and resin added. The curve is a bigger challenge and I have yet to tackle that. My hood has a lot of curve to fix.

I need it to just be all one color, even if it’s primer, lol. I can’t wait to get past this bodywork stage into paintland….
