70 Hemi Superbird Restoration..................errr.....scratch that........

Is it going to be ready this spring?
It’ll have paint on it this spring and the roller will be done then. The transmission is built, need a converter, and I’m swapping the engine over from my other car. Hopefully we’re testing at the track by September.

Apparently, they don’t reproduce the funky front marker light retainers for the coronet and I can’t find the used one I had so out come the fab tools and a piece of 2x2 .083 wall. Nothing like reinventing the wheel…

I know there's a good reason for it, but why does it look like that wheel and tire are bolted on backwards?
It is bolted on backwards. It’s the only way these wheels will fit. The steering arms are longer and will clear the 17x4.5” wheels I plan on running but won’t work with these wheels unless they’re on backwards. You can see here I have a set of borrowed race wheels on it and they fit great.

The engine bay is ready for primer. Hopefully I can get that done this weekend. I’ve been working on getting the rear window opening done and the area under the triangles looking right as well. Rear window trim needs a couple of spots welded and it’ll be ready for powdercoat.

I knew there was a good reason

Engine bay got a couple of coats of primer. Needs some creme filler added in spots for the pin holes, but otherwise, looks great.

We sprayed the roof while we were at it. It’ll get a couple coats of semi gloss black and a vinyl top on it eventually.

I had to add a little more glass to the decklid to get the gaps even. They’re tight at about 1/8” or so.

Before I can pull the fenders off for paint, I needed to finish a few things. One is the gap between the doors and fenders and the other is the front air dam. The factory one hints at its true potential but misses the mark for what I need. I didn’t like the slight v shape of the original either. This one should duct plenty of air through the radiator as well as feeding the big 88mm units. It’ll keep air from going under the car and also serve as a stand for the nose when it’s off the car. Currently sitting at 4” of ground clearance. I’ll expect the car to set another inch lower.
