What's it Worth 70 v 68/69 pricing?

General Lee's are supposed to be perfect?? When did this start?? :wtf:

Nice car and all but why is the bumper so ill-fitted? And the push bar is shameful.

Well... here's your answer. Blame those Duke boys. Imagine all the treasures in that junkyard too. A damn superbee stacked up right there!

This one's for sale...only asking $32,000 :fool:
Looks like it was pulled out of a canal
Base Charger but has R/T badges XP29 car. Is a 383 4 speed car so there's that going for it

That was RCs new Charger before Earl Scheib put on the $29.95 paint job! Here is the after photo. You really get your money's worth from Earl! Lol

Based solely on my biases, the correct order is:

1970 Dodge Charger Daytona
1969 Dodge Charger 500
1968 Dodge Charger R/T
1970 Dodge Charger R/T
1969 Dodge Charger R/T
1970 Dodge Charger 500, 383 Magnum 4 speed

Oh snap, you said a budget of $50k. You have a better chance with the 1971-1972 performance models of the B-body.

I would suggest going to look at some in person of each year. The more you actually see them, look over the details and differences, one will generally rise to the top of your list. Then focus only on that year, engine size or at least big or small block, colors you prefer and buy the best condition car you can afford and considering your skill set, capabilities and tools available. Expect there to be issues, because there will be, and then you can slowly change/upgrade it to be your car.

Like what chargervert said, for the longest time, the '70 was the least desireable of the 3 years. With the big loop bumper being the most recognizeable difference, it was kind of a black sheep of the second-gens. However, and I think even before the Fast & Furious franchise happened, the '70's started gaining in appeal because they were the most unique of the 3 years. But no doubt the F & F put the '70 firmly on the map for Charger enthusiasts.

I am personally glad I own a '70 and I wouldn't trade it in for either of the other two, for a number of reasons:

-The electric popup headlight motor is a far better solution to the vacuum-operated units;

-I personally like the neatness of the '70 loop bumper and inside grille, it just looks tidier than the Chargers with the chin bumpers and multiple pieces of chrome trim;

-I like the hood scallops with turn signal indicators more on the '70;

-I like the sidemarker assemblies more on the '70, the chrome bezels just give it a more classy look and the '68's circle markers are positioned up too high, just looks funky to me;

-I don't like the '68's double-circle taillights; far too many car models use this design, it's just lazy and looks like an afterthought to me; the '69 and '70 perfected the wicked, evil-looking sunken taillight design, with the '70 having that single finish panel bezel that ties the lenses together.

Most of the differences are purely aesthetic and opinions vary...but the electric popup headlight motor is a biggie for me.

Ok, I'll fess up to the OP. I bought my '70 Charger 500 equipped with 383 Magnum 4 speed in 1985 when prices were tolerable.

I had already given up by 1985 of finding any Mopar aero cars.

I still wish I had all the Chargers that I had purchased in the 80's and 90's. I still do have one of my 70' Chargers from when I was a teenager in high school. 36 years this month and now over 249,000 miles. Over 180,000 by me.

All three years are beautiful. As mentioned it's a personal preference. I like the 69 and 70 Chargers but for me the tail lights of the 68 are the winning ticket on why I bought a 68. Everyone has something different that they like and that is what makes this a great car. You can't go wrong with any of these.
Exactly! 68 tail lights are my favorite as well! All are cool. But the double rounds are most eye catching. My opinion.

I will admit the reverse lights hidden in the circle taillights is a clever and cool design. :thumbsup: I just hate circle taillights. Corvette, Camaro, Chevelle, Barracuda, Ferrari, the list goes on and on. Hell, even Corvairs had 'em.

Ok just spit ballin’ here. But why don’t we draw straws and the guy who draws the short one just sells me one of theirs.

Do a new brother here a solid. Dig deep and I promise whoever she ends up being in my garage she’ll never look back.

No, seriously …

Brother, I’m already there. I love them all! The GTX is very sexy.
