71 Charger SE build

Been working on the HVAC box and getting the lines in the engine compartment sorted out. HVAC box all rebuild and installed. Pedals installed and ready for Dynamat and the dash install.

AC is closed up. I did not like how the heater hoses ran over the valve covers and right under the AC line. I would have never been able to get the cover off without disconnecting stuff. I found a 90 degree molded 5/8 hose that allowed me to route the hoses down and behind the valve cover. More clearance and less heat right on the AC line.

Did the final cut and buff on the back half and sealed it. SE emblems on so I can get the head liner in. Rear markers and Gull wing for all you wing haters. LOL

Are you doing front spoiler ?

Saw your other pictures so

Did you find factory mounting hardware for the front spoiler ?

My 71 Bee is a Factory A45 car , factory original front spoiler , but at some point I went with Stainless hardware many moons ago . I want to put the spoiler hardware back to factory

Wheel Opening Moldings ?

Beautiful

Yes, post 146 has pics. I used the FPAP front spoiler which came with the hardware. It was basically hardware store stuff.

The wheel opening moldings will be originals that I will strip, polish, and ceramic coat.

A question on your clutch pedal. Are you using the over center spring?

Yesterday I finished the exhaust. The original tailpipes I got from Dons did not fit right. He went out of his way to fab me up a new set and shipped them to me on his dime just to make sure they are right.

Today I went through the carburetor. It's a 800 CFM AVS that was on my 73 SE when I bought it. Somehow the owner thought dropping this on a low compression 400 would run good. It was way rich. The floats were way off and I dropped the main jets to .410 and changed the metering rod springs to 7" ones. We will see how it fires up.

Wow! Beautiful!

Happy Veterans day to all who served! We appreciate your service. Wife and I are both 10 year Navy vets.

A day off for me so I started on the vinyl top. Masked and cleaned the top. Laid the top in the sun for a while even though it was weak today that helped with the wrinkles a lot. Now its ready for the glue on Saturday with a bunch of my shop manuals helping out for a couple days.

Top is on. Got a couple small bubbles but the SC sun will take care of that in no time. Once the roof trim in polished and installed I can do the headliner then glass.

Spent two weekends fighting with the headliner and finally gave up. Just can't get the front two bows to stand up. The spacing between the seams and where the bows go is off 1/4" and I think that's the reason. It's a REM. I just ordered a Legendary one and will try again when that comes in.

On a positive note the dash is installed.

She's beautiful! I just found a 71 Charger se project. Hauled her home last week. Complete car 383 auto buckets console slapstick 8 3/4 suregrip. Just going to get it running and drive it for now, save it for future restore.

Got the steering column rebuilt. Will install it tomorrow. That will button up all the electrical and I have the week off. I see firing it up in my near future.

Column is in. Electrical is done. Have a couple quirks. Horn is on all the time, and headlamp doors don't open with the lights, likley due to the relays. Got to find Kern dog's post on that one. I will deal with those later.

Brakes bled and engine primed. Also swiped the drivers seat from the 74 so I can cruise the neighborhood and get bugs in my teeth.
