I was able to get the remote oil lines finished up today.
@supergluehero
I am going to be building a center console that hopefully will look like the old cassette player/recorder and will be putting my AFR and fuel pressure gauges in there along with a couple of switches.
yea I thought about that but I've worked on several vehicles that had the filter mounted this way and none of them were overly messy. The key is to let it sit for awhile I think but it is what it is I guess, if it becomes and issue I will change it.Looks good, but changing the filter will be a mess.
Yeah I am aware of that, I am using DD gauges and a Holley Terminator X system so I would think that it should provide that data but to be honest I am not sure. I already have the gauges but we will see, I might forego them but I don't think I will. I'd like something up there as it just looks too empty.PSA, but if you’re using the DD gauges, you can get both AFR and Fuel Press displayed in the cluster if you run the Holley BIM. That was one of the main reasons I chose to run that combo.
The Terminator X will provide everything but speed to the gauges. You need an X Max to get speed to the cluster.Yeah I am aware of that, I am using DD gauges and a Holley Terminator X system so I would think that it should provide that data but to be honest I am not sure. Well... I do have the X Max so there is that. I just installed the oil pressure sending unit for the DD cluster which based on what you are saying I don't need? Guess I need to read the instructions.. lolThe Terminator X will provide everything but speed to the gauges. You need an X Max to get speed to the cluster.
The X will send oil press, water temp, AFR, MAP, fuel pressure, and several other readings to the cluster with the interface module. The real beauty here is you don’t have to run all the special sensors and wiring that the gauges require otherwise, so you cut down on a lot of the extra pass throughs and wiring, plus less sending units to leak or go bad.
Oh yeah, I forgot you have the Max. That will do pretty much everything with the DD Gauges.Well... I do have the X Max so there is that. I just installed the oil pressure sending unit for the DD cluster which based on what you are saying I don't need? Guess I need to read the instructions.. lol
I just went and looked and I have that module so I am good there. I need to decide if I want the extra gauges or not now.Oh yeah, I forgot you have the Max. That will do pretty much everything with the DD Gauges.
You need the BIM-01-2-HLLY module to interface with the gauges. The instructions do a pretty good job of outlining what is available to display in the gauge center in addition to the readings for the basic gauges themselves.
Yes Sir, I am the second owner, got it from southern CA for free (a bit of a story). I am not a closet Toyota guy but the price was right and it is a fun car. I had to give it some love as it had been sitting for about 14 years but its all good now for the most part.Nice work on the radiator support!... and an '85 MR2 in the background. Also yours?
I had an '87 at one point when I lived in CA, absolute blast to drive on twisty backroads, not the quickest thing around in a straight line.Yes Sir, I am the second owner, got it from southern CA for free (a bit of a story). I completely agree, its not "fast" per se but you feel like you are going fast in it. I redid all of the suspension and put in some go fast stuff just because and it handles really well. The previous owner's brother who had the car for quite some time did some stupid crap with it like put in a big stereo, had someone paint ghost flames on it, etc. I fixed all of the wiring but the stock air box is gone. It could use new paint but I am not going to paint it, I like it as it is and am not worried about scratching it. I do need to recharge the AC in it at some point. The only thing I cannot find for it is the drivers side window switch, I can roll down the windows but I cannot roll up the passenger side with the drivers side switch, but the car is so narrow I can just reach over and do it.I had an '87 at one point when I lived in CA, absolute blast to drive on twisty backroads, not the quickest thing around in a straight line.
I did beat up on a Testarossa at Thunderhill with it though.
Ya, mine had pretty much everything you can do to the suspension/engine/etc, previous owner pretty much threw the entire TRD catalog at it plus portion of HKS/WebCam/etc. Super entertaining to drive, but maybe 135 horsepower in a 2500lb car.I completely agree, its not "fast" per se but you feel like you are going fast in it.
Mine is pretty much bone stock in terms of the engine/drivetrain but it still a blast to drive. I'd love to pump some more HP out of it but have too many other projects to play with at the moment. I just drove the MR2 today down to a store and back and was reminded just how much fun it is.Ya, mine had pretty much everything you can do to the suspension/engine/etc, previous owner pretty much threw the entire TRD catalog at it plus portion of HKS/WebCam/etc. Super entertaining to drive, but maybe 135 horsepower in a 2500lb car.
Thank you very much, took a long time to make (like everything it seems). I still don't have the bottom attached to the core support but will get that done tomorrow. There will be 1/8 neoprene between the mounting plates and the condenser, not sure if it needs it but I figure it cannot hurt, I did the same with my radiator.Those look awesome!
