72 Satellite Gen III Hemi Restomod

One step forward, two steps back today. I dialed in my rear suspension and measured for my drive shaft. While under there I realized I hadn't left enough slack in my parking brake cable and it was rubbing the tire. I'll have to drill a couple holes through the torque box and reroute it since I've already cut it to length.

I also had forgotten to free up my shifter as it was binding from the factory. Not a big deal assuming you have access to the top of the transmission. Mine has been installed for a while now so out it came. Hopefully it won't be too bad putting it back in.

I feel your pain brother.. I've been there a number of times. I have a saying "anything worth doing is worth doing 2 or 3 times".

I was able put put shroud on my radiator and mount my fans. The shroud left a large gap top and bottom so I found some 1" expanding foam tape to seal it.

I also got started tearing my column apart to convert to a floor shift. I didn't realize how crummy this thing looks.

I got all my intake components only to realize I bought all 3" components when I needed to buy 4". Back to the drawing board.

1 step forward..... stay in the fight. When I built/rebuilt my tilt column I took it a part like 15 times for one reason or another.

A tilt column expert! Do regular B-body non-tilt column steering wheel adapters fit those, or are they different. I keep hearing rumors of them being a GM column.

I don't know about expert but they are absolutely 100% a GM column.

Which "adapter" are you referring to?

I'm reading about the lockout tube and whether it should go back in. I don't mind the wheel lock feature, but I don't need the linkage connection at the bottom anymore. There's also not a tapped hole for the allen set screw in the (middle?) collar. I've watched the cuda Cody videos, but that's for a 70 E-body.

I cannot really comment on this aspect and that column without taking it apart myself. I did take one non-tilt 71+ column apart somewhat but it was already pretty disassembled.

I got all my steering column parts painted and should be good for reassembly tomorrow assuming I'm not missing anything.

I also got my radiator and overflow reservoir mounted.

It's coming along. Pretty soon I'm going to run out of things to do that don't require wires.

I got the steering column all back together. I used an old throttle spring to make the key return spring. I think it will work. I was pretty happy with how it all went together. Not to difficult or time consuming. The cuda Cody videos really helped. Now just gotta cut the hex rod to length and install the U-joints.

An adapter to put a non-Mopar steering wheel on. A Momo in this case so the usual 6 bolt 70mm bolt circle. I don't want to get one just to find out it only fits the standard column and not the tilt column.

@Rennkafer
Ok well I do know that I ordered an adapter off Amazon for a GM tilt column and it works on the tilt column I have. But I think I also ordered one for a non tilt Mopar column and it would work as well. The adapters I ordered were for a 6 bolt wheel and I am using the GM one due to the length which is really the difference between tilt and non-tilt (the tilt adapters are shorter). The splines at least on the aftermarket adapters appears to be the same for Mopar and GM. Also they do not have a master spline so you can fit them however you like.

Order one off Amazon, if it doesn't work return it.

I got my tweaked transmission upper cross member painted and installed. I had to clearance it more than I wanted so I added another plate at the front to keep it stiff

I also got my drive shaft, so that had to get put in as well.

I've got a few things in motion, but I picked up some radiator hoses tonight. Both needed a little trimming, but they both work. One of the pluses of the Holley mid mount system is the swivel hose connections.

Top: NAPA 16619 (with reducer to the radiator)
Bottom: NAPA 9531

Thats awesome, I might have to buy one of the bottom hoses, the one I have fits (after trimming) but not super great.
