Americans keep turning their backs on McDonald’s

After all this talk about mcdinks I went and grabbed lunch there. Surprise! Surprise!
It sucked. About $14 on a 1/4pounder cheese meal. Asked for a coke but pretty sure it was a blend of every soft drink in the machine. And this is the newest mcd in the city

Oh heck, P.S.!
Chick-Fil-A IS the one "fast food" I'll gladly frequent - and have since I was a kid in Atlanta in the 70's.
I can truly say they are the one name brand chain that serves the exact same quality food as back then.
It hasn't changed a bit, thank heavens - and the service is ALWAYS impeccible.
A big reason for that is the business is still controlled by the Cathy family, not some corporate entity.

I agree, but they are expensive. The last time Submit & I went, the bill set me back nearly 28 bucks for chicken strips, fries & drinks each that is eaten in less than 10 minutes. Then again, all fast food is expensive today.

Last night we went to the Longhorn to use up a 50 dollar gift certificate the kids gave us. We both got the 8 oz sirloin with a vegetable, salad & rolls. I got a Coke & Submit got water. The bill came to $43.84 & we still have a few bucks left over to use the next time we go. I left the waiter a $10.00 cash tip.

Sure, dinner cost more, but it's pretty easy to figure out which is the better value for your dollar.

I don’t eat fast food. I like to eat homemade meals, and take the leftovers for lunch. The boys on the crew always want me to go with them to the diner, which take an hour and $15, that’s a $65 dollar lunch for me. No thanks! I almost always eat on the fly, and leave a little early. I’d rather be at home than work, but it’s still a necessity, at least for a couple more years.

I do eat Jets pizza tho, but only because it’s free. I’m not a big fan of pizza, but my son brings it home for me to take to lunch. He’s the manager of the local Jets. I guess my cheap nature supersedes my urge not to eat it.

And, I do like me a Shamrock Shake, so in March I will stop and get everybody in the house one. That’s my big indulgence!

I had a Raspberry Malt yesterday at Maid Rite. Oh and the loose meat sandwiches are only $5. They serve them with a spoon for all that doesn't fit in the bun.

then Quik Star comes to town and I bet they sell more coffee than 2 or 3 of them put together
Here they are Quik Trips – EVERYWHERE including building a nice big one 400-yards from me. Two more have been built since in the general area and rumor of another one going up about 4-miles from us. They are all busy.

We used to have them here as well. In fact the first convenience store in town was a Quik Trip They are out of Oklahoma. Quik Star is out of Wisconsin. Deluxe stores for sure.

Where I am at, quik trip is the cheapest gas station in town. I have no idea if they sell coffee, I've never noticed one way or the other.

I looked it up for our "local" CFA (it's 25 miles away, sadly) and that is $9.09 per meal, so with taxes here
that's about $19.95. How's that Yankee life treatin' ya? :)

(For the record, I've always - well, 99.95% of the time, anyways - ordered the #1 meal: original CFA sandwich,
fries, drink. $8.35 + tax).
Been that way since I was a kid in the early 70's, when we sold coupon books for their sandwiches for little league
fundraising as they were just starting out (CFA started just south of Atlanta, where I grew up).

I was off a bit on my pricing & just checked it. It's just under 24 bucks for the strips, fries & Coke X 2.

A local burger joint. Around $7

What? Say ye embellished a tad, eh? :)
Well, that's only 20% higher than here then. Not as steep a "yankee tax"....

As a general rule in these parts, a drive-thru meal from any of the national chains
(big burger, fries and drink) is gonna be $10 a head, so CFA is actually competitive with
them - and of course, far superior in quality and service.

Don't even get me started on fried chicken joints.... (our KFC franchise is particularly nasty),
but the Bojangles does that better here than your usual Popeyes, KFC, etc.

Quit eating McD's in 2005. Back then, the last things I tried from them were the "premium chicken strips".
When I was in Madison in the late 90's, the McD on State Street would run a wednesday special of 20pc mcnugget with all the sauce you wanted for $4. I did it once, felt like trash for the next 24 hours, and never again did I try a mcnugget.

I would eat A&W years ago, quit that in the last 5 years because local one the old man sold out, handed it to his daughter. Spoiled rotten, useless daughter. The place is gross, the help is teenagers all day, they can't even get an order right much less make the food right. And I don;t mean oops, I forgot you said no pickles, I mean order a double burger in the drivethrough, open the bag they hand me and 2 chicken sliders and a cheese curd are in there. No, there wasn;t any other customers in line. i think they just grabbed what was on the pre-made rack and thought I wouldn't say anything. I asked for my money back and left.

Culvers can be OK yet but local one is run by high school kids so the burgers aren;t made right. they do well enough on the sides and ice cream. But it costs double what a local bar does and I can get a beer with a burger there.

It just isn't worth it. People think the prices will give.... no, that's not part of the plan. Prices on real food are going to get frightening, very soon. Get ready to SPEND on just eating actual food.
Ya gotta go to Hardee's, man. Hardees! lol

We just got one in State College, and prices are comparable. Place is lined up out the door, and they had to reconfigure the drive through because of traffic issues on the main street it fronted to. My former employer used to have a few truck terminals in RC's neck of the woods, and operating costs were brutal. I'm sure CFA has the same issues up there.

Last time I went to McDonald’s the DEI manager called the police on me. That’s a story for another time.
That exact same thing, same DEI circumstances, happened to my son when he was around 20. He stopped there after he got off his late shift at work, went through the drive thru and pulled into a parking spot to eat his meal. The DEI manager called the police on him for 'loitering' in the parking lot. He's never given McDonalds his money since.

It now appears the CA is having the worst of it although, I'm sure it is just as bad elsewhere!!! cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

Bad laws have bad consequences.

McDonald's CEO says fast food sales are suffering in California as menu prices increased to offset the state's $20 minimum wage for fast-food workers.
