I recently purchased a NOS 3-speed wiper motor (part#2889982 if I remember correctly) for my '69 Charger. I know it isn't the correct part number but was told it would fit and function. I then obtained the appropriate crank arm (2822273) with bushing, etc. Problem is the slot in the crank arm isn't near big enough to slide onto the stud on the wiper motor. This thing is driving me crazy! The ends on the motor stud appear rounded with flat sides. The crank arm appears to have 1 rounded end, a flat end, and flat sides. I'm more than willing to do some sculpting on the slot if necessary, but there must be a proper crank arm out there somewhere. I attached a (poor) photo to illustrate. Any help is appreciated.

I may have the arm with the different slot. I will check tomorrow and get back to you at some point.

Here is that correct 3 speed arm. It utilizes a different bushing which I do not have.

The slot on your arm appears to be the correct size that would fit the stud on my motor. Is there a part number on it?

I got it. 2580934. I don't know whether to get that crank or just bite the bullet and get a '69 wiper motor. I was told the '68 would work but with all of this part drama I'm not sure. Bulkhead wiring appears to be the same. The drive area of the motor where the crank attaches appears different between '68 and '69.

This is why you have to be careful buying NOS.....you have to know exactly what your buying and have someone look also if your questioning it. I have bought tons of NOS parts and I cannot even tell you how many I had to pass on due on issues like this or had a friend take.a second look.

The seller probably had no clue either but I would ask to return it or buy an arm or get it rebuilt with the correct drive unit.

The ironic part is that it matches the part number of the motor already on the car. Figured I couldn't go wrong. But, of course, the crank arm was missing so the motor might have just been slapped on for appearance sake.

Possibly so...let me know if you want that arm.

I'm going to do a little more investigating but you'll be the first to know. Thanks much for the help.
