Any Jeep folks here?

Welll.... its not quite that simple...
The 'popular' story is that this woman was visiting some kin in canada [with Georgia as I remember or some other American plate ] and some hosers were quite unkind to her. Really upset her, so her kinfolk suggested they go putter around and 'shake it off'. They wandered into a Dollar General or something and she saw a bag of little rubber ducks. These made her smile, so she bought them and began to put them on other Jeeps randomly to make those Jeep owner's day brighter.
The other story comes from a Jeep club somewhere in the Southeast [cant remember which state] that had a big Jeep get together every year that included a massive water crossing. Those that made it across received a rubber duck... get it? The Jeep club story appears to pre date the other, but the poor little girl spreading sunshine story has more , uh, um, don't want to say 'propaganda'... ummmm... HUMAN INTEREST value, so thats the one that is officially promoted.
Either way, it's a Jeep thing, and I think its fun. [from a guy who has never been ducked!]

I hadn’t ever heard of it until we got one on the Mojave right after moving to Idaho a few years ago. I had to look it up and see if it was a normal thing. Nobody does that in my former state of California that I am aware so it’s new to me.
Travis..

My rough country shocks blew out that were on my Jeep when I bought it They did well but figured I would step it up a notch to these.
Anyone else running Fox shocks?

MIxed reviews from what I've read.
I've never tried a set.
I run Rancho RS9's and like their
adjustability, and have yet to have
one fail. They've been on my CJ for
quite a number of years.

Fox makes excellent parts for motosport, ATVs and UTVs. I can't imagine their automotive stuff is any different.

Certainly better than rough country.

I’ve had Rancho 9000s on a few rigs, no complaints and enjoy the adjustability. Our Mojave that we bought new had the factory Fox shox on it and it seemed to work nice. I’m sure Jeep spent some time getting them how they wanted them to work with the rest of the package. My 97 has the silver bodied Bilsteins and it rides really good. They were pretty stiff until I took it snow wheeling and gave them a bit of a workout running icy ruts with a bit of speed. They were much better after that workout. The two JKs have stock red shocks. I think they’re smoked on the ‘18, it’s a wallowing pig.

I use to set up Fox and King shock's at my old shop for all the beach trucks and the Fox was so easy to re valve. Luckily I hung on to all equipment if too stiff or soft it will bring old memories to tinker on them.

Here's my '84 CJ7. I bought it a bit over a year ago. I love it but man what a distraction from the GTX! I fixed most of the bugs in it so, thankfully, I just drive it now and my focus is back on the X.

And for the record, I don’t get the duck thing either. The wife’s Mojave got a couple in the year we had it, they went in the console. I also don’t wave at other jeeps unless they look like off-road used jeeps. There’s just too damn many soccer mom and poser jeeps running around these days.
Travis..
Travis, I have been driving CJs since 1976 when I purchased my first one. I drove it everywhere but sold it and bought the 77 cj golden eagle shortly after when I saw it. I also drove that everywhere, through woods and streams, creeks, the beach, snow, you name it. I have since done a frame off restoration on Boomer as you can see in the picture previously posted. I do not drive it off road at all any more. However as a seasoned cj driver I expect a wave weather it's dirty or not. I have been doing the jeep wave since 76 regardless of who is behind the wheel of the other jeep.
I do not like some snob saying they only wave at off road jeeps when you have no idea.
And the duck thing thing is just simple fun like a stuffed road runner next to a real one at a show

There is definitely a brotherhood of Jeep owners out there that I was not expecting! I don't mind the waves or the two ducks that I have so far. I just don't have a dash to put them on! Unfortunately, I live in Fargo, ND where the off road opportunities are pretty much nonexistent. My Jeep lives a pampered life!

My Wrangler has accumulated some ducks - from Michelle's daughter, some of her friends, and a few parking lots and cruise nights. I think I have six. Whatever. They're neat, but not a driving force for me. It's a "poseur" jeep and I'm OK with that. I'm too old and busy to mess with rock crawling anymore. It's not lifted. It has stock size tires on it. It's a go-anywhere winter toy and a go-anywhere convertible summer toy. It lives in the garage. When the leaves come out in spring, the hardtop goes on the hoist and hangs from the garage ceiling, and doesn't go back on until fall. It has a bikini soft top for surprise showers while I'm out in it, and the full hard doors just lift out of the hinges (they generally hang on hooks under the hardtop all summer, unless it's a light rain and I need the weather seal). I do use it like a UTV around the property - there's a big ol' dent in the grille from when I was pulling a stump with it, it popped free and BONK, bounced off the grille - but I'm not going to slap a 4" lift and some knobby noisy shitty-fuel-economy 35's on it for the one or two times a year I get serious about finding mud and playing on some of the trails nearby. I keep it clean so it doesn't rust like my YJ and XJ did. Underneath is undercoated; interior is bedlined. It does everything I need it to do. If the time comes I don't want to drive stick anymore and I end up selling it, the next owner can do all that crazy **** to it if they want.

I do have it set up to flat-tow; this was key west at new years

This may be the best rental I’ve ever gotten. Brand spanking new rubicon in Savannah

Love rental jeeps. Rented a TJ back in...01? when I spent 2 weeks in Maui with the Addams family (my gf at the time - she was fun, they were f'in NUTS).

Don't think it even HAD a top. Definitely no carpet. Can't remember if it had doors...but I'm thinking not.

Perfect for the backside of Maui (Hana Bay, Hana road, Haleakala crater....)

Had mine out a few weeks back to jump an old ford on the cabin property, passenger side headlight has been missing its lense going on 3 years now but some how the bulb still works!

Whoa there, I guess I caught a nerve. Let me revise my statement a bit. I rarely wave at other jeeps unless they wave at me, and it seems 90+ percent of the time I’m too slow to process and wave back anyway. I’ve just never been a serial waver. I absolutely wave back at TJ and all previous generations of jeep, even clean stockers if I catch it in time. However, the jeeps on 22’s with underglow and color matched suspension don’t get more than a passing glance let alone a wave. I just dismiss them because I have no interest in such things. If that makes me a Jeep snob, then a Jeep snob I be.
