Anyone running 295/65/15 DR's?

I'm still struggling with my new wheel, tire, and gear combo. As of now I'm pretty set on going from my 325/50/15s on steel wheels with 3.91s to 295/65/15s on weld pro stars with 4.30s. I'd be giving up about 1" of width for over 2" of height. Anyone running these tires? Also does 6.5" backspace on wheel sound right & 4.30s would pretty much net the same gear ratio I had with the 3.90 /325s right? .... Just trying to pick a combo and stick with it, this is torture! Lol

No, I actually think I'm ok. I'm going through around 6400 which I'm told is where I should be for a 496... Trying to improve the 60'and fill up the well more

It'll fill the well more but I don't know about the 60' I imagine it'll be about the same

You might crunch the numbers on each tire/wheel combo to see what the weight of each is. I'm not sure that you would see any difference. If your changing but ending up with the same ratio. You might consider a low first gear in your trans, or convertor if it's a strip only car. Or just buy a lightweight pair of rims with slicks for the track.

I have a hydraulic roller , pretty sure my upper limits are 6500 + even though the 400 based stroker is rev happy i didn't wanna spin it to high . Pretty big stroke and rod length.

I`ve got 295 65 156 `s on my 68 barracuda, 3:73 rear gear, but no runs on it yet .

Not to high jack but could you post some pictures of your barracuda with the 295/65/ 15s I was thinking of them for mine

keep the gear you have & put the taller tires on & try shifting at 6000 & lower to see if the car picks up,. talk to the guy that did your heads about turning 6500 rpm & hydraulic cams in a BB mopar, also you would need some very good head flow & a large cam for a 496 cid to make power above 6000rpm

I had some 325's on my roadrunner for a bit. They were on a 8" rim though so I don't think that was ideal. It worked good with the 440 but wouldn't hook the stroker, at least without a bunch of suspension tuning/work, 4.10 gear. I still run them from time to time, they do drive better than my QTP's. I think a 3:91 gear would be about perfect with those tires and a stroker.

Sounds good I'll try it.... Maybe that's why the car for like it was losing some at the end of the track, I thought I was running out fuel... It's a small hydraulic roller 615-620 lift, 240/248 duration, 112 LSA, ported performer rpm heads with bigger valves.... You might be right I just don't want my 60' to suffer, I was trying to improve it
