I agree with the guys above. Also it may be easier to get hooked up with the taller tire, with more sidewall with the 3.91s. Strokers tend to be torque monsters so use it to your advantage.

Here is my dyno sheet. 440 Trick flow heads, 6 bbl .030 9.9:1 Cam very close to yours only a 112 LSA. Now to be fair the 112 will bring the peak power down a little, but I knew the intake would probably be the restriction point. You can see that even though peak HP is at 5900 it starts to flat line at 5600. So I'm going to start with a 5800 shift point. We ran it to 6500 once and it never got better than at 58-5900. You will also note the torque starts falling off at 56-5700. This combo made 591 hp 560 ft lb tq. Can't wait to get it on the road.
I WOULD GUESS your peak HP is about 5600, maybe a little more.Strange because mine seems to rev faster than my 440 did due to the pistons being so light . But also it's a long stroke with long rods so I guess the peak power is made lower down
Larger & taller tire = larger footprint
I like the most tire I can get & with no rubbing {after alterations}
some guys like to run the shorter tires
some guys fly with the 275's Drag Radials
I had really bad luck with too much wheel-speed,
no matter what psi I had/tried,
I couldn't make them work as well as the taller wider tires
I had too much initial spin on
275/60/15's, 28.25" tall, 11.25" wide, 9.75" tread
on 9" rims {but some people go really fast on 275's}
I went to M/T ET 315/60'/15, 29.5" tall, 12.5" wide, 11.5" tread
{bigger footprint, more rollout, my car liked it}
on 10" rims on my last/old 68 RR,
reworked 175k MP 3800 stall, it'd flash to 4200
cross the line at 6300-6400rpm 4.10:1
{& later 3.91:1 about a 300 rpm drop}
taller gears were more street friendly, especially with that taller tire too
(I had 4.30's org. too much gear for the combo/car/cam/converter)
That car with the same 479ci low deck 4.15" stroker would run best
9.77 @ 135 N/A 3520#'s with me in it, ran it's best with that tire combo
Sacramento raceway 100* test & tune, no track prep
high 1.30's 60' on Caltracs & some new 3.73:1 gears
on the now pretty much wore out 315/60's
{it ran best 8.58 @ 156 on N20, same tires, 1.24 IIRC 60'}
depends on what the car & engine wants
how well you can get the weight to transfer etc.
Yes, for the most part...A lot of good info. So you agree the taller tire and keeping the same gear will probably be good for my combo?
