The only thing rarer than station wagon parts is people who want them. Pull the center and sell it for $100, and sell the rest for scrap.

The wagon rears were the same as sedans, at least in 65. Gear/center section is nothing special. Be easier to sell with brakes. If you were local, I'd make an offer on it.

Pull the weak 741 and sell it to someone who thinks it's worth $100 and send me the housing. I'll narrow it, back brace it and sell it to someone who's making some HP and has a sure-grip center section! Seriously though, it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay.

What is the equivalent width of other bodies, and does it use later axles? I fairly close, and might be able to use the housing. I need one for a 67 wagon.

And there you have it Pumpkin6u. :) You're going to hear from lots of guys who would love to get it, but it's too far away, they don't want to pay for shipping, it's cheaper to buy the right housing than to cut it down, etc. I just went through this with a rear for a 73 Town & Country, and ended up getting in dutch with my town for keeping a junk car in the yard because some ahole from Alabama kept telling me he was going to come and get it... then after a month he says "nevermind... not worth the effort."

The reality is the only real market for these things is for the centers.

How many 741's have you seen broken?

That is an interesting gear ratio.
Noting wrong with a 741 case.
IIRC the 66/67 axle shafts will work in a 65 housing, but not 100% sure.

The 65-67 width is great for A body guys esp Duster/Demon/Dart sport.
Backing plates and drums can be had from an 8 1/4, still found at the JY on 5th Ave cars and even 11" on some /6 80's trucks.

I'd say $150-ish

The 65 housing is the one to have for the 62 to 64 cars to replace the tapered axle because it is the narrowest one for a b-body. I think it gives you 1 1/2 inches space or 3/4 of an inch each side.

PM sent, with phone number for contact.

Thanks, Mike.

A few... And even 742's and 489's. To be fair, most had a 500" stroker in front of them!
We've broken a few running a 4 speed Super Street car back in the early 80's but it was mostly shaved teeth. Car ran 10.70 and launched at 6k!! Never broke a pinion shaft though but ended up throwing a Dana 60 at it and the problem of shaved teeth went away.

Well thanks for all the info guys. This is my first mopar build. I just picked up a A body 8 3/4 741 case with 2.92 sure grip for $900 but thanks for the input

thats kinda spensive
around here, thats a 300 dollar pig,if you find someone wanting that gear ratio.
also, someone please correct me if im wrong,
but didnt that 2.92 fit certain cases only?

im not sure but i vaguely recall something being off about those super highway gears....?

It came with New big bolt pattern axles and it's hard to find a A Body 8 8 3/4 we're i live

great snag on the axles then.
you know thats a highway gear right?
youll do like a 150mph when you finally get there...
most of the a bodies i had i liked the 3.23 or 3.55 gearsets.

also, did you write the ratio down right?
i remember a 2.94? gear ratio?

No I'm going to take it apart to make sure that's what it is. I have a 67 Cuda notch back just trying to get it on the road I'll be putting a 3.55 in it next winter

i always liked the notchback better than the fastback,
they have great lines imo.
my last 67 notch is one town over,
i sold it to a guy who used to have one and wanted to relive his youth.
he ended up buying another one as well lol!

Mopar to you and best wishes on the Cuda.

edit:spelling lol.
ps,we have a mt morris here in western new york as well.
