57 Plymouth outsold 57 chevy 3 to 1.

Side by side you can see the Plymouth is a fresh and advanced low/long body design while the chevy is a 3 year old refresh of a tall square box design.

Unfortunately poor quality issues caused sales and image to falter for 58, and chevy regained the sales figures they lost in 57, although the 58 one year only chevy was likely rushed to compete and fill the gap until the completely new 59/60 long/low body debut.
