Yes. Rear wheels and tires came mounted and balance from Summit.
Dennis, aren't your rear wheels wider than 8"? I know you did some careful measurements for backspacing if I recall.Yes. Rear wheels and tires came mounted and balance from Summit.
295's on the rear of the Plymouth also?I have a few pictures of some of my 295 combo's on the rear.

Yes, on 8" steelies.295's on the rear of the Plymouth also?
295/50's are a little wide for an 8" rim. For what it's worth, 295/50's on a 10" rim and 235/60's on an 8" rim are a widely accepted matching pair. The sidewall bulge and proportions just look right, the 295 is about a 1/2" taller than the 235. If you go any taller than a 245/60 or a 205/70 your front tire will be taller than a 295/50.nice.. may have to sell the new 275/60's for a loss, and get the 295 50's. will see.
That is a really good looking combination!IMO, 295/55/15 is the sweet spot. They are the same height as the 275/60/15 and fit on an 8" rim. I am running the 295/55/15 in the rear and 225/70/15 up front.
Summit order can’t be found. I ordered 15” Rallyes with Coopers mounted and didn’t specify width IIRC. No backspacing mentioned or an issue.Dennis, aren't your rear wheels wider than 8"? I know you did some careful measurements for backspacing if I recall.
Dennis' car is a Dodge. OP's is a Plymouth. The rear wheel arches on the Plymouth are lower and could make it fit differently unless some inner trimming is involved...
The measuring rim is what the published dimensions are based on. Section width obviously changes depending on rim width. Tread width doesn't change, but shape of tread will change. Tread will be flatter on a wider rim.and your 295 50s are on stock-ish sized 15 x 8 wheels?
about to pull trigger on 295 50s and most comments are saying they WILL work on 8" wheels. BFG site says they will fit on a rim width range from 8" to 10.5", but then says "measured rim" of 9.5" ? wonder what these 2 things mean..

Your 295 section will be less on an 8" rim, and wider than 295 on a 11"rim.
All the talk of 275/60R15s made me want to share my former 72 Newport on 4 275s. Think those wheels were 8", it rubbed on the rear with a load, I put another leaf in the back and a 9.25 diff from an 81 Gran Fury that was about 1.5" narrower.

I don’t understand the “bulge” comment regarding a smaller rim. Sure, the look is a little different for different rim widths, but it’s small. The tire cross section is smaller with a narrower rim. For a 1” smaller rim there is a 1/4” less bulge from tread to max cross section width, and a 1/4” more bulge from rim to cross section width.
You are giving up nothing meaningful going with a rim width that’s in the manufacturers accepted range.
For 50 years I’ve always run the smallest rim recommended for a tire size and even smaller a few times. I personally prefer the less rim width look. Tire performance has always been fine.
