"Blind in Texas" '71 Dart build

I can't say I'd like to be installing headliners every day! IMG-20150524-00754.jpg
I also got the rear glass installed, anyone who has ever done one of these knows how much of a pain in the neck it is! All looking good! IMG-20150524-00757.jpg What's not looking good is the front glass,I have two that are scratched pretty bad...I'm going to order one.

new glass is the best thing you can do for the car. it just looks so much better.

It was a productive weekend, dome light, rear view mirror, and visors screwed in place. I just cleaned them...I really don't want everything in the interior to look new. Also found the broadcast sheet in the seat...it's in great shape! lolIMG-20150526-00758.jpgIMG-20150526-00759.jpgIMG-20150526-00760.jpg
I also ordered a front glass from Classic, made use of the Memorial day discount!

I have the seats pretty much finished for the Dart,I spent most of the day cleaning and polishing small parts. I have to cut the slots for the belts to go through in the front bench.IMG-20150607-00775.jpgIMG-20150607-00777.jpgIMG-20150607-00778.jpg

I installed the new windshield, and I'm going through some of the wiring.IMG-20150612-00780.jpg

I decided not to put the Swinger emblems back on the car,I do like this one for the trunk lid!IMG-20150619-00790.jpgIMG-20150619-00791.jpgIMG-20150619-00792.jpgJust a skim, and a shot of primer.

Coming along good bud! That broadcast sheet you found i can imagine made you a better day!! :)

Yes Ron,all pretty good these days. I'm just getting a few things clued up and figured out before paint. I had to notch the K frame for the RB oil pump and I'm mounting the starter relay and all the ignition stuff under the dash...and the rest of the wiring sorted! Going to have color sometime this summer, with any luck.IMG-20150620-00795.jpg

Slow going these days on the Dart,I did find some of the interior trim and polished it. I still have some wiring to do before paint.IMG-20150707-00827.jpg

Well after looking at the wood grain panels for a while,I decided that I didn't like them! I picked up some for a '69,even got the heater delete one! I have to get a glove box latch for a '69,they are different.IMG-20150711-00828.jpgIMG-20150711-00829.jpg

You're making good progress my man. And the car is looking up. Those interior seats look sweet. Bonus on finding the build sheet. Must have made your day.

I have a couple grills in great shape,so I decided to refinish both of them. IMG-20150801-00858.jpgIMG-20150801-00857.jpgIMG-20150801-00859.jpg

I don't know what happened there, usually the pic just shows up,and not as an attachment. Should be good now Ron.

I pulled out the short block, and I'm going to try to get it put together. Probably going to go with 440 source for heads and most of the stuff I need. Trying to cut down on cost with the Canadian dollar being so bad and the shipping being high in U S funds.IMG-20150823-00933.jpgIMG-20150823-00934.jpg

I had a fair amount of trouble getting the glove box door to latch. I had to make the hole in the door larger so I could use a '62-'65 lock, kept the original loop for the latch to hook on. All the mounting holes are different in the pre'70 doors,so I had to make them too. Wasn't too bad switching to '69 paneling, worth it in my opinion.IMG-20150907-00950.jpg

I've got 440 source heads on my '71 GTX. so far, I really like them, but I don't have 100 miles on them yet. if you get the fully loaded heads, change out the springs, keepers, and locks for comp cams stuff. I was warned about the stock stuff, and it's true. Here's a pic of the stock locks (cad plated, blech), next to the 10 degree comp stuff.
