"Blind in Texas" '71 Dart build

Cool Bean's! You know, obviously you've seen how easy the liner applies.... A guy could make a killing spraying in bedliners on the side. I did 2 friend's truck's last year. Took me about 2 hours a piece and $109ea for their bedliner kits. I just charged them a 12 pack of beer, but the local folks wanted to charge them $600-800!

She's looking good man! If you don't mind, i'm gonna be picking your brain a bit more when I get to skim coating my dart. These 5 body lines just seem like a nightmare in the making.

That's what I was thinking when I picked up my truck at Line x this fall...and they said 830 dollars please. LOL.

Anytime Prop,I did body and paint on many different body styles, these are the most aggravating. Flat panels and sharp straight lines...I see you counted them.LOL. Your car looks good, any other panels you have to replace now that the roof is on?

Lots of progress since I last dropped in, Congrats on getting closer to sealing it up in paint. My hats off to those who do this regularly, something you've got to be really good at in order to be able to do it often (unlike myself). I think your probably the only person I've seen put any effort into figuring out how the install a column shift haha, good luck.

Thanks 747, My column shift was not a big deal, compared to your recent gearbox install. Great job by the way! Banging gears in the Charger is going to be a blast!

LOL! You bet I did! Counted them over and over several times and then went......."Uggg!" I believe I should be wrapped up with the metal work. Kinda counting my chickens before they hatch (being the car is not completely stripped to metal), but judging how solid the car is around the wheelhouses and back by the trunk extensions, I wouldn't guess there will be any more rotten metal to contend with. One last run at metal work will be welding in a 4-Speed hump.

Sprayed some primer on the inside of the hood, the last of the primer...I hope. IMG-20150111-00550.jpgIMG-20150111-00551.jpg

It's been a busy week! I got the dash prepped and painted and installed. The inside of the doors painted, and the window gaskets put in place.IMG-20150106-00524.jpgIMG-20150106-00520.jpg

That's going to be all for a while,I'm going to bag it and go back at the Super Bee.IMG-20150102-00517.jpg

Also; We're finally getting some snow here,so I'm going to try to get some relaxation time on the sled!IMG-20150109-00546.jpg

Sprayed inside the hood and trunk,IMG-20150129-00566.jpgIMG-20150129-00564.jpg. Going to mask them, put them back on,and then it's back at the Super Bee.

Looking great Chargin, sweet looking sled you've got too.

looking good. love the sled too, do you remember the mini bikes that cat made?

Just read through your thread. Brings back a lot of memories as a 71 Dart was my first body work project. The getting the quarters and body lines squared up was a frustrating nightmare! Keep up the good work and thanks for the trip down memory lane through your pictures.

Thanks a68postcar, I've been a Cat sled guy since '79. I don't recall any dirt bikes,I guess the would have been Suzuki powered? May have been only available in the U S. The local Cat dealer here is a Harley dealer too,and they use to deal Suzuki. That may have had something to do with it?
