"Blind in Texas" '71 Dart build

I understand the scoops dilema...it's more work to 'undo them' if you don't like them. They would look great either body colored or in black...especially combined with a black interior and the black stripe over the back of the car.

Shoot the radiator support the body color. Only black out the areas behind the headlights and grille. It will look 'factory fresh'!

Nice work!

Thanks Dako, that's what I was wondering about, the black out in the front of the rad support. There won't be a stripe on this car,so I'm thinkin' no scoops and a body color hood.

Some great work, I personally like the scoops but that hood would look good without them to, This is one of those decisions that you will have to make, Which ever you choose i cant see it going wrong!

I like the scoops (pretty cool looking) and prefer the black radiator support myself. I've got an inch of my radiator on each side that I didn't get painted black and it drives me nuts seeing it threw the grill.

I'm digging the scoop idea as well. Always thought they looked good on the Darts/Demons. IMO the Demons have a great looking blackout scheme, with the two wide stripes.

I mocked the column in. I plan to have it column shift, with a cable hidden under the dash. I'll be fabbing up some brackets. IMG-20140628-00280.jpg

It's been a while since I made any progress...so I spent a couple hours at it this week. IMG-20141031-00443.jpgIMG-20141108-00451.jpgIMG-20141108-00452.jpgIMG-20141108-00455.jpg

Great song,I listened to a lot of WASP over the years!

Not every day you find a solid rust free car. My new project is every part brand new in boxes down to screws in baggies and so far found $40.00 in items I need to buy, but body is rusted yet its a sun roof charger. We seem to have the opposite dilemma.

Thanks, mike71ssp. That is a nasty looking '70 Dart. I have everything to complete the car except the fender side marker lights. Good luck on the sunroof Charger.

Great build your doing nice work I love the 70-72 darts own one myself haha

I have the rear housing cleaned, and started the subframe....all going well. Removed the dolly the body has been sitting on the last 17 years. It was very liberating!IMG-20141114-00462.jpgIMG-20141114-00464.jpgIMG-20141115-00465.jpgIMG-20141115-00466.jpg

I really enjoy my 65' Belvedere I. But it's hard to beat the sheer excitement of my BBC, 600+ hp 68' Dart. It makes me grin from ear to ear when I stand on the wow pedal.
Chargin, I think you're gonna love your A Body. We're not completely "Blind in Texas", we love all Mopar's!

I seen your Dart on BigBlockDart. It's a *** kicker!

I finally got around to spraying some color! Feels pretty good to see something done, after the dirt work. I need to get the dash prepped and get it installed.IMG-20141230-00501.jpgIMG-20141230-00503.jpg

The last of the prep work on the body of the Dart. The underside of the hood is bit of a mess! All the edges chew up the clean and strip wheels pretty fast! lolIMG-20150110-00549.jpg

Hey Prop, I did use a light coat of the rocketliner on the floor pans and where I installed the subframes. I then primed and painted over it,it turned out nice.
