Bought a 70

Got the rear end and springs pulled, going by the tag it's a 3.23 open. Pretty naked on the back end now. Some clown could not understand the L on the left rear lug nuts. three studs were broken and two lug nuts were rounded right off. I was worried the rim was damaged but it's OK. The original wheels and trim rings are really really nice. I took a 18mm 12 point and pounded it on after some heat. My cordless impact would not get the job done so I busted my old Matco air impact and it buzzed them right off. Righty loosey of course.

Done out there for today. Baking in that car port and the humidity is through the roof.

Sometimes too much so **** is slow to get done.

Finished up the back end. Pulled the bumper, shackles, fuel and brake lines up to the doors and got the rear window trim and glass out. Dutchman is toast. Next up is the side glass and trim. Heat drove me out for the day.

Some rust where the bumper reinforcements are.

Interior is almost gutted. Taking lots of pics as this is my first 68-70 coupe. All seatbelts, pop out glass, headliner, and body wiring are out. Hope to get the doors gutted and windshield out tomorrow.

Jeff, I've seen this on more than a couple post cars........was there a gap at the bottom of your window(s)?

Pop out window 1968 road runner post car

I have installed the new window gasket and was fitting up my quarter pop out window. It seems I have a 3/8-1/4” gap from window rubber to the new AMD quarter panel. It’s Ben years since I took this apart. Is there a “window felt” or body gasket I need in this space ??
I understand a felt would go with the wind up windows

No gap, the rubber is right up flush, there is a felt that is in the rubber on the bottom side that kinda spreads it, seen in the second pic . Reading through the thread you linked and Wayne’s thread makes me think I will have this issue too. I wonder if the repop seals are not as thick??

curious, do those original quarters have provisions for the rubber squeegee if it was constructed as a hard top?

Pulled the windshield, steering column, dash, and AC box. Made a quick stand for the dash to hang out on for now. Carport is getting full of parts!

Got the air vent, pedal assembly, and wiper assembly removed. Gutted the doors. Almost done A pillar back. Taking lots of reference pics too as it could be 2-3 years for some of these parts to go back on after restoring them.
