Not sure whether to be happy or pissed off today.
For over 5 years now I've been waiting on Universal Vintage Tire / Coker to have stock of F60-15 RWL Polyglas GT's. When I tried to order them before the Aero Reunion in 2019 they told me that if I wanted a back order, on something they had no idea on a restock date, I had to pay up front. Not gonna happen.. and fortunately I ran the track in Atlanta, on then 29 year old tires, and put 493.8 miles on the Bird while in Georgia and Alabama without issue. Drove a few more hundred miles the past few years, but no longer willing to "push my luck" after stripping the entire car, painting and putting it back together. I certainly don't need a tire blowing apart now.
In March I saw that they, Coker / UVT, had stock again and tried to order but they only had 3. This time I put in an order / backorder as I no longer had to pay up front. Promised a late Summer restock. NADDA. It took me a week to get someone to respond this morning to tell me, still none in stock, "no known restocking date".
I pulled up Kelsey Tire on the internet and "talked" to them an hour ago. It took a FULL 3 minutes to get an email response to "do you have four of these in stock before I bother completing an online order". Answer = YES!
All this time that I've been waiting for Coker / UVT to piss or get off the pot, five + years now, and Kelsey has had stock ! $5 less per tire as well, just hope their shipping is cheaper as well. Coker was taking 20% for taxes and tarrifs, while Kelsey states right on their site to claim a tariff code for 25+ year old vehicles so there is no duty. We'll see how it pans out...
Coker / UVT was $441 US for shipping Fedex Ground and $432US for taxes on $1720US worth of tires!
