Broke my 7UP Pop Machine today....

Pulled her out in the sunshine to bake the decals and of course it immediately clouded over and started raining so I got to wipe up water drops instead.

More shop cleaning all day, got a spot for the Formula S cleaned out, the Swinger fired right up on 3 cranks, after 5 months down, and the Bird is in the air so I can do the shifter linkage adjustment tomorrow.

A little off topic here Wayne, but the color selection of your ceiling panels...I plan to use similar panels when I do my ceiling, but am strongly considering white. How is the light reflection with that color as opposed to white?

It's just galvanized roofing, full 29' length panels. Don't think you could beat it for light reflection with anything else but maybe a mirror.

4' center on my trusses so we're planning to go with 16' lengths when ready. I do like that galvanized look. Thanks man. Don't wanna highjack your thread here, so...carry on with your progress. Great job

Like everything else reproduction, never an install "as bought" item.

Guess it's time for some dish soap and water to remove Jake's wax job and to float some decals into place.

Thanks for the details, just checked your build for the window crank position when up knew from your other info, you wouldn't have it wrong!

Somehow I missed this whole debacle lol. Glad to see that your arm was/is okay and the car is all fixed up again!

Not sure whether to be happy or pissed off today.

For over 5 years now I've been waiting on Universal Vintage Tire / Coker to have stock of F60-15 RWL Polyglas GT's. When I tried to order them before the Aero Reunion in 2019 they told me that if I wanted a back order, on something they had no idea on a restock date, I had to pay up front. Not gonna happen.. and fortunately I ran the track in Atlanta, on then 29 year old tires, and put 493.8 miles on the Bird while in Georgia and Alabama without issue. Drove a few more hundred miles the past few years, but no longer willing to "push my luck" after stripping the entire car, painting and putting it back together. I certainly don't need a tire blowing apart now.

In March I saw that they, Coker / UVT, had stock again and tried to order but they only had 3. This time I put in an order / backorder as I no longer had to pay up front. Promised a late Summer restock. NADDA. It took me a week to get someone to respond this morning to tell me, still none in stock, "no known restocking date".

I pulled up Kelsey Tire on the internet and "talked" to them an hour ago. It took a FULL 3 minutes to get an email response to "do you have four of these in stock before I bother completing an online order". Answer = YES!

All this time that I've been waiting for Coker / UVT to piss or get off the pot, five + years now, and Kelsey has had stock ! $5 less per tire as well, just hope their shipping is cheaper as well. Coker was taking 20% for taxes and tarrifs, while Kelsey states right on their site to claim a tariff code for 25+ year old vehicles so there is no duty. We'll see how it pans out...

Coker / UVT was $441 US for shipping Fedex Ground and $432US for taxes on $1720US worth of tires!

You made a major leap forward Wayne. Regardless of the cost, having new tires definitely is cheaper than what you've gone through.

Hope all is well with your family!

I would probably prefer a Kelsey tire over a Coker anyway. Reproduction tires have sure gotten super expensive over time.

I figured they were all selling the same tire, but Kelsey still claims they have the moulds, are the exclusive Goodyear vintage tire seller and make their tires in PA.

Tires paid for this morning and already on the UPS truck ! $398US for shipping, so I'm $63US ahead at this point until I see what UPS gets me for for Brokerage and tax collection.

I will not buy from Coker. They sold me 2-3 year old tires based on date codes as new that was sitting on their shelf. These were a brand that you see everyday on these classics. I suggested that their warehouse must not be rotating stock. Bottom line it was a mess. i will pay more to go someplace else before I deal with them again.

What terrible event! I’m sure you are so frustrated over it. I know I would be beating myself up over it. Thankfully you are OK and your arm is still functional. Everything else can be repaired.

Got the "Crown and Anchor Wheel" bill from UPS today. As usual the pricks got me for $176 for brokerage and collected the tax for Trudeau. Somehow they did that wrong but in my favour and all in I am now $216CDN ahead compared to the "all in" pricing from Coker / UVT! I'll call it a win for now. Old rims and tires are at Adco Tire for dismount, but I sure picked a dumb time to go to a tire shop in Ontario.. LOL

Tires and rims apart ready to start clean up and repaint. Brothers that currently own the shop and the tire changer (that is 71!) all worked there when these tires went on new in 1990. Tires are still soft as a babies bum and the three of them all stated that they'd trust these tires more than the new ones that will be delivered today!

The tires on my bird came from Kelsey and I trust them more than any new radial. Mine are from about 2004.
