Buddy with fast car.

I use to race on the street, had to take my drivers test over twice due to tickets. Tell them to either show up at the track or shut up about it. Pu**ies like that should be walking....:icon_fU:

at the next stop, the kids bitched about the cloud of mosquito repellent. I slowly gazed over with my best "grizzled street rat" look and said "Wouldn't have been a problem if you'd been ahead of me." THAT pissed 'em off even more,so when the light turned green,I pretended to want to go again. They blasted off,I departed slowly, and I smiled as I passed them:icon_fU: and the helpful Michigan State Police officer:grin: who was waiting about a half-mile down the road.

:rolling: Classic! :rolling:

I had a kid in a freakin' Toyota Camry come up next to me at a light last week and give me a bunch of "ying ying" wind-up sounds from under his hood. I just smiled and turned up the AC/DC song on my radio. :icon_rolleyes:

Careful Bigredbird Those camrys are in nascar. They go fast.

I know this is a B-Body forum & more power to all, for this great place... I may get torched or ridiculed for saying this, or loose a bunch of Mopar buddies here BUT..... Hey now guys there are some very fast Chevy's out there too, maybe even more than most Mopars, I know, I know, that's sacreligious...LOL... Don't get me wrong, My 1st love is MOPAR, but I've been in the high 6's in the 1/4 mile with a Chevy powered car also, in a 23 Ford T Altered, that had a BB/RB blown injected Max Wedge prier to that... All brands have their stupid squirrels Camaro's & Mustang's & even Mopars alike, to me it's more the Mustang crowd, that are a little too mouthy for their own damn good... Example #1 Silver/Blueish {Nissan color}, 1967 Camaro, tubbed, tinned & full chassis/cage, with the mufflers & interior, insured, registered & regularly street driven in Concord Ca., 8.98et @ 156mph on street tires w/Top Gun fogger N20 system, {low 7.70 et's/high 170's mph w/slicks & uncapped w/same N20, do that with a Mopar for around $10K-$12K, you can't, at least not back then} 3000lbs on old M/T Sportsman 18x33 crap w/ladder bars @ Super Chevy mid 1990's fastest street car competition, in Phoenix/Chandler Firebird Raceway, February race, I had a 69 RR & a 68 Charger R/T {or several others Ford & Pontiac actually too}, at home in the garage/driveway, That I spent twice as much on that weren't anywhere near as fast... I'm just saying, you may want to, think about some of the over exaggeration on both sides, bench racing........... I know very well this is a Mopar Forum, but come on guys, a little over generalization isn't it... I'm always amazed at how many guys have 10 sec. 3500lb-4000lb Mopars, when I never would see them at the track, until recent years maybe, I remember very few were out at any of the tracks, or just the very few odd guy here or there... Also it wasn't all that long ago, when we couldn't get any of the great Mopar Performance parts we have today, when Mopar Performance stuff is allot more available now & much easier to build decent comparable HP/TQ #'s now, especially the cylinder heads, that's where Chevy has made the power for many years, Mopar's have just recently got some great flowing high HP/TQ capable cylinder heads with out breaking the bank, for years if you wanted to be competitive with out breaking the bank, Chevy & Ford were the only other alternatives, but mostly Chevy because of popularity & cost of building a project, Ford's arent cheap to build either, you could build nearly 3 Chevy's, for the price/cost of 1 Mopar comparable in et/mph HP/TQ performance levels, believe me I know, been there done that, at least now it only cost maybe 1.5 times as much, instead of 3 times as much, to build Mopar's & many Mopar guys sometimes, tend to be really tight with the funds, flat out cheap or very frugal minded, or won't spend like the Chevy or Ford Guys will, to go as fast, much more of the purist crowds, than the other Brand X guys, seem to be, or maybe it's just me... I'm Still a DIE HARD Mopar Guy Thru & Thru, always have been, always will be... I know it's all in fun so just keep'em coming.... :argue: sorry for the rant guys/gals

Agreed,,,, But I still just walk past them stinkin 68 and 69 camaros at the shows and track!
I'm a little tired of the Chevelles too "68 - 72"! See too damn many of them things!!!! One of the reasons I enjoy Mopars so much is because there are fewer at the local shows and strip! There is a certain allure about the Ol' Classic Mopars of the 60's that just bleeds MUSCLE CAR! The heritage of winning over and over during the hey days of Drag Racing is something that Mopar seems to live up to very well!
I do however appreciate others opinions, likes, and dislikes regarding manufactures and body types,,,,, they just may not be the same as mine!!! LOL!!!
To the point of the OP,,,,, Just tell them to put up or shut up, and the only person involved in the conversation that can PROVE he has a fast car is YOU, and until someone can PROVE his car is FASTER then HE LOOSES and YOU WIN by default!!!! It's just that simple!!:headbang:

Got a buddy with a z06 been mouthin off since he got it a few years back. i got my 69 a couple months ago and he's been stangely quiet.

If it's a new C6 Z06, their are completely bone stock examples on D.O.T approved tires running in the high 10's. The C5 Z06, even tested in Chevy High Performance for the 2004 Model year ran in the high 11's on stock tires. The 2001 model year did not have the performance of the 2002-2004 model year, but still isn't a slouch. You are talking a car that makes 360-370RWHP at 3,080 pounds from the factory and with longtube headers and a cam swap, making 420-430RWHP. The new C6 Z06s are making around 430-440RWHP from the factory. All this and still retaining fantastic fuel economy... (I got 33MPG @ 65MPH to Daytona, 25-27MPG @ 80MPH) I have a friend that owns a 800RWHP turbo fox body mustang with a power glide and blow through carb setup on a 331 small block, and his brother has a 9 second mustang with a five speed and a blow through carb setup on a 347 with a procharger. These mustangs could hang or out run 100K+ hemi builds, and do it for years and are TOTALLY street-able on PUMP GAS.. BUTTTTTTTTT!!!! At the end of the day, they are just driving a mustang...

Hopefully you are packin' some serious heat with that 413! Love Mopars but I give credit where credit is due..

I don't care how fast something is. If it's new and high tech, it ain't my ball game. I want something old over something new any day. I want to FEEL like I am going fast. I don't want that feelin hidden in a high tech suspension system where the only thing I have to go by is the speedometer. That's no fun to me. I want to feel the road. I want to feel the bumps in the road. I want to feel the tirespin....and I want there to BE tirespin. I know the new stuff is fast. Faster and quicker than the old stuff.......but not cooler.

Rusty, Like the stress on the body when you get it on...etc.
just knowing you are in a 50 year old car, and it
took the rest of the world 40 years to beat you is a hoot!

JMVHO.

I'd offer to pay for their entry fee to the track next time. Really give them no reason to be able to say no, lol.

I think the reason for them not going to the track is that they don't want to be embarrassed about how slow they are:jerk:.....and man I really miss the days at the track pulling that big block in high gear and felling it quivering under me.....Artie:tearyeyed:

Exactly why I built my Mopar other than my Corvette! It's just boring to drive in comparison..

Nice 63 Belvedere, it's a sweet ride Sonny & a belated Congrats on the recent show win, I love to see Mopars win at everything....

The funny thing about your comment on the mustangs to me is they had to do so much mods to get to that point. vs a stock hemi or 440 lol I see it all the time the only way the other guys can beat a mopar is with crazy amounts of mods let's see stock 302 vs stock 318 or stock 351 vs stock 340 or stock 428 vs stock 440 or hemi. who wins?

I know whats in both of these Camaro's. The one is a 383 smallblock Stroker and I really dont think it can get near the low 11's. The other is the one I might worry more about as its a 468 with aluminum heads. But I have rode in the car and know how it goes and it is a 4-speed which is in my favor because the driver is not very good with a 4-speed. I would think this car can get in the 10's but maybe not with this guy driving.

This is a true story about another buddy with a Camaro. He had a 69 Camaro with a 502 crate eng. Everytime he came out we would hear a story as how he spanked another car and thought his car was the fastest street car around. One day he told me how he spanked an 11 second Cuda. At that time I had my 383 Dart that had run 12.30's @ 110. My one buddy had driven that guys Camaro and he told me he knew my Dart would spank it. I was not so sure as I mean it was a bigblock Camaro ? We finnally got this guy to the track and I kid you not he could not even get in the 13's !!! LOL ! After two more times to the track he finally got 13.80's out of it and this was the worlds fastest street car to him. Yea......Ron
