Building a 1971 "Stock looking" Stroker 6 pack 440 with manifolds suggestions

Looking for Suggestions:
I am going to build a stock looking 440 6 pack for my 1971 Barracuda. Need suggestions on which stroker kit to get, and cam suggestions. It will have 906 Heads, 2.5 exhaust, and exhaust manifolds. I just bought a new complete 440 six pack set up with new carbs, the works. I want to make it a F.A.S.T. (Factory Appearing Stock Tire) type. Will be shooting for Mid 11's. How much grinding will be necessary depending on the stroker crank size? I am taking my Cuda back to a stock look with Polyglas tires. New venture for me as I have been running your basic 440-hydraulic-850-SD intake-Hooker Headers-Centerline--type until now that was running 11.6 on slicks...No cage.

If your going that far I would as I am look into 440 source lower end kit with either their heads Stealth or Trick Flows which have had good write ups for ootb heads,
Depends if you wanna run it on the street too, any way good luck on the build!
 
I think the 440 Stealth heads can be painted factory orange and it makes them appear to be stock Mopar heads? Not the case with the Trick Flow heads (which are the ones I want). Minnesota guy, PM sent.
 
If you're going to be running OEM hi-po manifolds and you are trying on get everything you can out of this setup (and have more $ than God), you can have the exhaust manifolds extrude honed.
 
FWIW, I am going to use Eagle rods and their stroker crank with the addition of their proprietary ESP armor on the crank. They are also in Mississippi, right next to Louisiana where I live, so I may take a tour when I am ready to build my stroker motor. This is as long as Jim LaRoy agrees with my choice.

4.250 stroke kit, ported or CNC stealths, and extrude honed exhaust manifolds. I'd go with a custom cam by someone who has had experience with performance motors with manifolds, or fast type builds.

By the way, the 4.250 kits fit really well, with the Chevy rod they usually take less work than a 4.150 crank and Chrysler rods. I put a source 4.250 kit on my 400, only had to grind a small amount off the oil pick up boss. And yes 1/2" pick up still worked!!

I had my gt40 lower intake and heads extrude Honed 15 years ago on my mustang. Seat of the pants felt better but I added a vortech blower before I returned to the track with it.

So...what you are saying is it went A LOT faster AFTER the extrude honing (and BLOWER) lol j/k. ;-)
 
IQ52, I was actually talking with a couple of mechanics and they brought up extrude honing my aluminum 6 bbl intake to maximize its performance...my thoughts are maybe that and some hand or machine porting? for the stroker I have discussed ? I defer to your suggestions.

A mindless abrasive ooze pushed under pressure through a cavity versus a tool guided by the hands of an experienced intelligent being. Sounds to me like evolution vs creation. Ask the 'mechanics' how much actual experience they have with extrude honing and it's quantifiable benefits.

I've seen small benefits on exhaust manifolds, not like you can hand port them internally, And it's not like you can make them too big. Are they gonna be as good as headers, never. But if your limited on the parts you can use it's may be worth the edge.

The six pack manifold isn't that bad, do some port work and a little work under the carbs and they work well. I would never extrude hone something like that. It'll do more harm than good.

Thanks guys. Mr. LaRoy will be the shot caller on the build overall. I am hoping to be ready sometime in 2017. I have so many things I want/need to do on the "list" for my car, and I'm trying to do the "need"s before the "want"s.
